We purchased two pair of Klipsch KHW-5 in-wall speakers for use as surround speakers in our living room. The KHW-5s are an excellent value with very good sound quality, blending well with the sound of our Klipsch F2 front speakers and C3 center speaker. Sound quality is better than expected given the price.
Like most Klipsch speakers, the KHW-5s are very efficient. They are also ruggedly built, and their in-wall design allows them to disappear in the room.
For the money, they would be hard to beat for our application. We were able to design a very nice surround system without breaking the bank. |

These are some of the worst sounding Klipsch speakers I have ever heard. I purchased two pair of Mirage in wall speakers from Vanns and love them. I went to purchase another pair and they were out of stock. I have always been amazed at some of the speakers the Klipsch has come out with. I own a pair of their computer speakers and I must say that they are the best computer speakers I have ever heard. That said, when I saw these I figured that I could not go wrong.
Wrong!, they are flat and far from bright like a normal pair of Klipsch. The horn tweeters are usually much brighter than others. However, with these I had to turn the treble up to max and make sure the the speakers were set at 0 db for the trebel and not -3 db. I know they will take time to break in, but most speaker will usually just warm up after time. The tweeters are not bright enough for this to happen. Not sure if I got a bad pair, but I would recommend the Mirage in walls over these. |
