Home cinema speakers must combine high power capabilities with excellent sensitivity and dynamic range, while being designed to prevent listening fatigue. The new 225 Series speakers meet these requirements by using a PMD (Polymer-injected Mica Diaphragm) cone woofer. This diaphragm is composed of 30% high quality white Indian Pearl Mica, chosen for the significant contribution it makes to sound quality. In order to maximize its distinctive qualities, absolutely no coloring is added to the material. Yamaha has also varied the cone thickness, making it thinner on the outer edge, which has been shown to improve performance. Kapton bobbins help to increase Signal-to-Noise ratio. The cone is extremely light, yet also tough and durable, with excellent response speed.

It's In The Construction

The high-performance tweeter in the NS-M225 features a dome made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy, with a DC-Diaphragm (integrated diaphragm and voice coil). The tweeter is extremely light to minimize loss yet is highly durable. It is capable of reproduction all the way up to 50kHz, which is rare for a 3cm dome tweeter. Highs are crisp and clear even at high power levels. The precision-constructed cabinet has a surface of high quality material. Its shape is designed to reduce diffraction and standing waves, ensuring you get the quality sound you want, when and where you want it.

I needed a center speaker to match my yamaha front floor speakers. most people suggest that you should stay with the same brand, at least for the front speakers. this center speaker matches up very well with my other yamahas. its a great dialog speaker...clean and crisp and has plenty of oomph. no need to crank it. if you have plenty of bass provided by other speakers,as i do, this one is perfect. if you are looking for a center speaker with lots of bass, forget it.
aethetically it has great lines and is only about 3 tall, so it can fit nicely under your HDTV. for the money, its the best deal out there for a great sounding speaker.

I needed a new center channel speaker to compliment my existing Boston set up and my me Panasonic plasma. I had limited room between the top on the TV and the bottom of the cabinet above for a speaker, so I needed a slimline. I had pruchased the Bose but it was crap and I returned it. This sounds better than the 5 14 3 channel Boston that was there before buy weighed 40# and was too large to fit in the space. The dialog is cristal clear. I had never ordered anything from Vanns before but they shipped on time, their FedEX tracking info was perfect arrived exactly on the date they said it would and it was new in box exactly as ordered.

Buy this speaker and buy it from Vanns.
