Nine drivers, three channels, and one speaker
Part of the experience and aesthetic of a flat-panel-HDTV home theater is way it transforms your living room. With your HDTV mounted flush against your living room wall, you're able to eliminate that big, clunky home entertainment cabinet. It's time to extend the slim, minimalist design and installation of flat panel HDTVs to your audio system. Designed to complement video displays 42" or larger, the Mythos Solo from Definitive Technology combines three speakers in one. Instead of cluttering the front of your home theater with two front-surround speakers and a center-channel speaker, the Mythos Solo integrates all three into a low-profile, single-enclosure loudspeaker. And if you're worried about sacrificing performance, think again. The Mythos Solo sports three 1.0" aluminum-dome tweeters, six 3.5" bass/midrange drivers, and two 3.5" passive bass-radiators, allocated into three separate chambers. Two of the chambers combine one tweeter and two bass/midrange drivers to deliver the surround sound effects traditionally reproduced by individual front-channel speakers. A third chamber combines one tweeter, two bass/midrange drivers and two pressure-driven bass radiators, offering both detailed movie dialogue and improved low-frequency audio. Nine drivers, three channels, and one speaker . . . the Mythos Solo all-in-one solution.
Versatile placement options
Providing a custom fit to the requirements of your home theater space, the Mythos Solo offers two installation solutions. First, you can use the included stainless steel wall bracket to mount the Mythos Solo on the wall beneath your wall-mounted flat-panel HDTV display. Or second, you can place the Mythos Solo on a shelf or low credenza using the included recessed leveler foot.
You are clear to install
All loudspeaker drivers incorporate magnets as a part of their sound-reproduction mechanism. All home A/V components operate using electricity (a form of electro-magnetic radiation) and often feature delicate or sensitive components — components that can be adversely affected or damaged by the force of a magnet. Ensuring that you are able to safely place your Mythos Solo speaker near other A/V components in your home theater setup, Definitive Technology has magnetically shielded the Mythos Solo's drivers.
Sounds great in a group
While the Mythos Solo all-in-one L/C/R speaker sounds great even when used alone as a home theater audio system, Definitive Technology has taken the time to ensure that the Solo also works well in concert with other speakers, especially other Mythos series speakers. The Mythos Solo is voice-matched to ideally complement other Mythos series speakers. Combine the Mythos solo with a pair of Mythos Gem speakers for a five-channel surround sound experience, and toss in a Def Tech subwoofer for improved bass-audio performance.

This is my first Def Tech speaker and I am very happy!
Pros Clarity is fantastic and makes dialogue very easy to listen to. Also this speaker does well with minimal power so you get a lot of volume without a lot of effort. Better mid-bass than my previous speakers which had woofers twice this size!
Cons Does not give you the soundstage that separate stereo and center speakers will give you. in my case it is not possible to have proper stereo speakers so this is a non factor. Speaker grill is more of a charcoaldark grey rather than black.
Overall I would recommend this speaker to most people because the quality you get at this price, and sound quality you get is worth losing a little bit of soundstage. You can make up for some of this with omni-directional surround speakers my mirage nanosats do the job as well as a multitude of other options could. Also, consider the fact that you cant even touch other definitive technology speakers at this price point!

This sound bar is exactly what we were looking for, its sleek and slendor and has the centerleftright speakers without an amplifier. We hooked it up to our Sony 7.1 receiver and unbelievable sound. I was worred that the silver may show, which is why this product is such a great price. We installed under the 50 TV and you cant see any of the silver. The speaker & wires were easy to install. So far two friends want to order it. I may never leave the house again - LOL, definitely dont need to go to the movies, Oh, I checked everywhere for a beatable price - no where had it cheaper. Not to mention Vanns doesnt charge tax or shipping. This is a great buy, for BIG sound and perfect space saver, instead of having 3 separate speakers. I highly recommend this product.
