Expand your listening horizons
Being surrounded by sound changes your entire listening (and viewing) experience. It's easier to lose yourself in a movie when you feel like you're literally in the middle of the action. The Jamo E8SUR.2 left surround speaker is part of the setup that will help you immerse yourself in sound. This three-way speaker features Midrange Phase Diffusion (MPD), which gives you the benefits of a dipole speaker at a reasonable cost. What are the benefits of a dipole speaker? You'll notice a much wider soundstage, which effectively camouflages the location of your surround speaker. It's one thing to be surrounded by sound, but you don't want to be able to pinpoint your speaker location without looking. The sound should feel like it flows naturally from all around you. The E8SUR.2's MPD construction ensures that enveloping feel. Add to that three drivers (tweeter, midrange, and woofer) that cover a huge range of frequencies, from a low 80Hz up to 20,000Hz, and you get the full spectrum of supporting audio. Jamo also replaced the traditional dustcap on the drivers with a Centre-Plug. (Hey, they're European, they're allowed to spell it that way.) The result is a lighter, more responsive cone with higher power handling and a stable sound reproduction during loud play. Finally, while the drawback to surround systems is often their looks, the curved, minimalist design of the E8SUR.2 adds some class to a too-often utilitarian product.

I bought these for three reasons... needs, looks, price. I needed to place speakers for my rear surround that looked good and would deflect sound. I was tired of knowing the exact location of the sound from the speaker. The boxing was nice... the overall look is good. They are heavy for their size, but fortunately come with two mounting brackets pre-installed on the back. After hooking them up... I debated on sending them back. The sound is somewhat lackluster for music application hopefully they will sound better once broken in.... Pink Floyd didnt sound like they did with my PhaseTech speakers... however, they did a more than adequate job for movies tracks. They provided the non-directional sound I was looking for and provided a nice blend of sound that immersed you into the movie without being to pinpoint the exact location of the speaker. Therefore... I rate these as OK. They are serving the purpose that I looked for... They look pretty good, and the discounted price @ $88 makes them worthwhile. However, in my opinion... they are NOT worth anymore than the discounted price. If you are looking for a crisp, dynamic sound for music and movies and willing to pay much more.. then buy something else. These speakers are for the humble who are on a budget and dont want to go with a full 7.1 system, but want to make the most out of a 5.1 for less than $200 pr pair. Good luck!
