The Rear Channel That's Out In Front
The OMDR is the recommended rear channel for the OM Design series. Proprietary driver technology and an elaborate cabinet design combined with Mirage's exclusive OMNIPOLAR technology make this sophisticated rear channel stand out from any other rear channel available to date.
Powerful Surround Effects
The OMNIPOLAR radiation pattern, created by the OMDR, provides seamless blending between front and rear surround effects creating an impressive home theater experience. Fewer speaker placement headaches arise with the use of the OMDR surround speakers as the sound created by these rear speakers is incredibly spacious and cannot easily be localized. The OMDR surround channels are perfect for creating sound effects or reproducing demanding multi-channel audio tracks.
Built To Perform
The OMDR features two 1-inch Pure Titanium Hybrid (PTH) dome tweeters, two 2-inch chambered titanium dome midranges and two 5.25-inch multi-layer carbon fiber woofers with underhung motor structure. The OMDR includes a flush mount wall bracket to allow the speaker to be securely wall mounted within minutes.
Design and Sound That Blends Perfectly
Add the OMDR to your sound equipment to get the most out of your multi-channel audio system/dedicated home theater system. Available in a beautiful high gloss black piano finish, the half circle design allows the speaker to blend in with your decor and disappear into your room. The OMDR is timbre matched to the OM Design series and is the ideal complement to your Mirage speaker system.
Included With Purchase
Wall mount bracket, polishing cloth, grip gloves for unpacking.

What a nice surprise. The fit and finish is top notch. Great enveloping sound. I have these hooked up to a Sunfire amp. They dont complain at all to aggressive listening sessions. I originally bought the Energy Veritas surrounds but after a few months of movies the woofers started distorting. I replaced them with the OMD-Rs and all I can say is WOW! Just get em!! They are very aggressive looking. People come into my house and stare and smile. Women stare in disbelieve that my wife let me hang these in the living room as they are big. Job well done Mirage!!

I have had Mirage speakers for years, so I was not surprised at all with the performance of these speakersOMDR. The previous week I ordered the Mirage OMD 28 to replace my OM 6 which by the way still sound great. The fronts were so deep and plush that I just had to have the rears. I have two Mirage subs and two Mirage center channel speakers for one heck of a kick. I just added the Sony HW30 Projector with a 120in screen to replace an older 73in Mitsubishi tv. Everything is being pushed by an older Denon AVR 5600 which I will replace next year. I love the omni directional speakers because you cannot pinpoint the sound. When the lights are turned off you cannot see the speakers and the sound fills the room completely. Cars and planes come from the right side or the left side of the room and not from a given point that regular speaker give off. When music is playing, you can close your eyes and you are surrounded by voices or instruments that come in clearly and distinctly and feels so good to the ears you think you are in heaven. The best part of all of this was the fantastic price of these speakers and the way that the speakers were shipped. I have had good equipment for more then 50 years and this is by far the best sounding system that i have put together. You may be able to get a better sounding system but not in this price range, Not counting this system I have a 7.1 Mirage, a 5.1 Martin Logan, a 5.1 Bose, and a 5.1 JBL speaker systems and they all sound great where i have them placed, But this OMD28 surround system is the all around best home theater system that i have. Thanks Vanns for your price and service.

Mirage OMD Product Quality -- One of the best audio packages for their finish and assembly. The piano black was fantastic, binding all tight, etc.....
Mirage Sound Quality -- After letting the system break in for 145 hours at 25 volume, it was amazing how they came alive hour after hour. The clarity and presence are what sold me when I heard them in a local AV boutique. The OMD series of speakers are true reference quality. And the two S-10 subs hit clean and hard, the THX Blue Ray movies sound great.
After setting up the home theater I ordered another system for the upstairs system. I was going to go with a Paradigm HT package, but honestly believe the Mirage system sounds as good if not better at more reasonable cost. The bottom line is that Mirage and Vanns rock!
Packing of Speakers -- Mirage did it right, they were packaged so well that these could have been tossed off the truck with no damage to the product.

First of thanks Vanns.com for excellent overall services from sales, secured packaging and fast shipping. I purchase 2 OMDRs approx. 3 weeks ago after listened to my OMD-28s and decided to invest in a complete matching sounds system. Now that I have the chance to provide my input about Mirage-OMDR that could be used as rear or sides surround-sound speakers after over 100-hrs of break-in with moderate volume remember don’t hastily make your judgments until after the break-in period. it does sounds much clear after the break in. Mirage specification refers to this OMDR as Omni-polar radiation which to me this only true when it team work with other OMD front or more... If working by itself, it will be considered as bi-polar speakers. I am using this OMDR as two sides LR surrounds. This speaker has 2 midrange drivers that built in OMD-28 or C2 and I believe is the key that it make OMDR provides seamless blending between front and rear surround effects especially for move. For music 7.1 or 5.1 stereo mode it provides a perfect matching sounds system that makes clear sound’s direction and invisible speaker positions. If your listening or home theater room has back wall then the 2 OMDRs would be enough, unless there is no back wall or the two side speakers are too far apart from each other or sides speaker can’t place 1-3’ away from back wall. Great speakers at a great price. I purchased a pair of OMD-28s and OMD-C2 a couple months ago and was using a pair of OMD-5s as my rear channels. They didnt blend as well as I hoped so I decided to try out the OMD-Rs. Glad I did, this was the missing piece to the puzzle. My system sounds amazing now. Huge improvement overall. Very neutral sound which blends very well with the front and center channels. Vanns great prices and free shipping made it well worth the purchase. Highly recommended.

I am familiar with Mirage speakers and this OMDR rear bi-pole speaker is flagship of their speakers.
OMDR is not omnipolar speakers like Mirages OMD series front center channels
The speaker price used to be $1000 per speaker and now you are getting a really good price for their flagship speaker.
Not all speaker manufacturer makes bidi pole speakers for rear and this is true for a Tannoy.
I have highend Tannoy fronts and center speakers and they dont have bipole rear speakers.
This was a perfect matchtimbre matching is not that important for rears for my set-up and the sound quality is amazing and I didnt even finished burn-in period.
I may report back once I get more time with these.

Still breaking them in and chomping at the bit to crank them! At moderate volume they sound really nice. The quality and presence of the sound almost makes me wish I had bought the OMD 15s and center instead of the Klipsch XF-48s and 23 up front... at least I also got the Mirage OM Prestige S10 sub which sounds insanely good, fyi!. I like the connection options, and the fact that I can use them as sideback or back surrounds have Denon 3310 7.1 AVR and eventually will get another pair of speakers for back or side. Construction is brick s***house solid and piano black laquer finish is indeed stunning pix do it no justice. Bottom line- at Vanns pricing I cant imagine making a better purchase. Currently trying to restrain myself from buying another pair now as I just bought all of the above!

While these speakers are larger and heavier than you may notice the sound reproduction is well worth the cost. Compared to the OMD-5, the OMDR is an all around better siderear speaker. They offer deeper fuller sound, clearer notes and excellent spatial dispersion. If you have room for these its a no brainer, buy the OMDR.

Replaced a Paradigm Monitor series set up with some OMD-15s, a OMDC1 and two OMDRs. The OMDRs required nothing special with placement due to the more traditional radiating pattern. The other speakers required more TLC to get em just right. The overall performance is outstanding. I am powering the system with a Sherwood Newcastle 5-channel amp and an Onkyo 805 receiver. I also run two large co-located stacked 15 inch driver subs, from an internet direct company. The performance of the system is quite dynamic and balanced. Great surround speakers, highly recommended.

To Show that this is as unbiased as possible, I hate Mirage Omnipolar technology or any mirage speakers that has the omniquide. This speaker does not uses a mirage omniguide so it is not an omnipolar but rather dipolar or so to say similar to klipsch wide dispersion technology. I love the latter as it seems that mirage Omniguide destroys or say absorbs the high frequency sound and the speakers seem dull Imagine a guitar with only 3 strings or a speaker without a tweeter. Klipsch WDST spreads the sound in your room and so the sound from these speakers envelope you completely while at the same time also let you to localize the sound sources. So it is a great balance between dispersion and localization. Well keeping that science aside, Mirage DOES make the BEST WOOFERS in the market or at least were the best among I have ever heard and also being a Klipsch Company the titanium tweeters cannot get any better. This is my favourtite Mirage Speaker of all time having used nanosats or omnisats earlier. I have three Klipsch RB-81 in the front with 4 Mirage OMD-Rs in the back. For sure, this is an overkill as two surrounds should have been enough. Although, I consider RB-81 to be the best bookshelf speaker in under $2000 range, Mirage OMD-R do not shy away at all, they might be missing a little at the low end as they can produce as low as only 80Hz compared to 46Hz of RB-81, but it is not important as anything lower than 80Hz goes to the subwoofer anyways. Apart from this, OMD-Rs have very similar performance to RB-81. You will not miss anything on the vocals, although if you want chesty male dialogues, you will need a subwoofer. They are not as bright or harsh as typical klipschs which is understandable as they do not have a horn but additionally the two inch aluminium midrange is a nice addition and a reason why I chose this speaker as a dedicated midrange means that you miss nothing from 80Hz to your audible limit. In all a fantastic speaker, a bit big if you are looking for comapct speakers but understandably, a speaker will be big if it has six speakers. Also the construction quality, aluminium midrange, titanium tweeters, carbon-fiber woofers and ribbed elliptical surrounds all the best possibilities are there in one unit. At $1000, they had a perfect price but at $400, they are a steal. The best and most balanced surround speaker not only from mirage but possibly from all manufactures. I wish Mirage made similar bookshelfs or floorstanders without the omniguide. Give them at least 20 hours of moderate play before any evaluation. Place them behind you1 might be enough in a 6.1 configuration or place them at 30 degrees as 4 or 8 o clock in a 5.1 configuration. I would recommend a 6.1 setup as I have 7.1 which is just an overkill. About Vanns, It is always a pleasure to do business with them, my favourite stop for audiovideo stuff.

I matched a pair of OMD-Rs with OMD-15s and OMD-C up front. Of all the surround specific speakers I have listened to, these provide the greatest range of any. They do justice to any surround soundtrack and on their own get down pretty low in the frequency range. The primary drawback to them is they are quite large. But if your room is large enough, or you have a dedicated theater room, they look nice enough that I dont think it is much of an issue. The finish is piano black lacquer that looks great.
