Extended excursion drivers
The optimized drivers feature vented pole pieces and custom-wound copper voice coils to dissipate heat and limit distortion, for long-term reliability and listening enjoyment.
Flexible crossover with "Subwoofer Direct"
The DEQ-12R subwoofer includes an adjustable 40Hz - 120Hz low pass crossover that allows the sub to ideally match any main speakers. The Subwoofer Direct feature allows the DEQ-R subs to play the output of the LFE channel of a 5.1 or 7.1 channel receiver unaltered, assuring the highest level of performance without any degradation.
Cabinet design
The DEQ-R series cabinets are engineered using a front-firing, slotted bass-reflex design, minimizing the distortion known as "port noise" and maximizing bass impact. With all the bass generated forward, the DEQ12R subwoofer is easily placed in any location, or concealed in custom cabinetry.

Pros a beast of sound. Best placed where room acoustics can take advantage of it.
Cons Size - bet ready for it - with big sound sometimes comes big size....

This is a state of the art sub. I am running it together with mirage speakes and with a Nakamichi AV 500 power source in a room that is 30 X15 Outstanding low frequencies with a sweet and smooth touch. You will have to remove all loose small items from the room cause everything vibrates! Great buy!

The DEQ-12R replaced an older F-series Velodyne sub in my system. I know there are better subs out there but this is the best bang for your buck when it comes to subwoofers. Why did they wait so long to include the remote features? I have only had this sub for a few weeks and I have enjoyed listening to my music and movies more than I ever have. I have never enjoyed my SACD and DVD-AUDIO disc more because I can change my base on the fly. The level of base changes so much on different recordings and now with the push of a button I can match the bass with the highs and midrange from my speakers. The same can be said for MOVIES. Thanks Velodyne for a job well done. And yes the improvement in SUBWOOFERS has come a long way in the last 15 years.

Finally found a sub that fits and works to perfection! Needed an intuitive sub to blend in with Mythos One towers and a Mythos Three center channel. Listened to Definitive Super Cube III, but felt something was missing. Tried the Velodyn VX-10 and had issues....finally settled on the Velodyne DEQ-12r and am happy with low frequency extension, blend with the fronts, and the quality of bass throughout the room. The EQ system setup was very easy, intuitive and produced wonderful acoustic results. To find the perfect location, I moved the couch and located the sub at the precise location of the listening area. I got on my hands and knees, crawling around room listening for favorable results. Once I found a suitable location, switched locations with the sub and used the EQ one touch system to tune. For a medium to large room, for easy set up and tune, this is the perfect sub for you!

This sub was purchased to replace my old velodyne ct120... I read the reviews on the DLS-4000R and bought that one.. Didnt like the way it limited the volume as you turn it up. Sent that back and got the Klipsch RW-10d.. I liked it but I need a 12 in my living room.. Sent that back and got the DEQ-12r... It came with the Optimum manual instead of a DEQ manual but the subs are similar in design. It comes with a mic for easy setup. This sub sounds so much better than the DLS series and cost the same. This sub has not be rated anywhere that I have seen but it should be.. I think velodyne didnt do a good job of promoting it.. This sub is powerful with very little distortion if any.
