With a built-in, 180-watt amplifier, this subwoofer is what is known as an active subwoofer rather than passive; active means that a subwoofer picks up and amplifies the signals being sent to it, whereas passive means the unit only picks up and resonates the signals without any extra amplification. An active subwoofer adds the extra power you're looking for in a low frequency effects channel. If you want realistic explosions, roars and rockets with your movies as well as more thump in your tunes, you don't want to be passive about your subwoofer.
For a subwoofer to blend seamlessly with the rest of your system, you need some control over how it sounds. That's why the SAW3000 has an adjustable level control so you can adjust the volume level to your system and room environment. The long throw driver utilized in this subwoofer is capable of extended cone excursion to produce lifelike bass levels in any type of system configuration. This means that the driver that moves the woofer can move farther, faster to more accurately reproduce the audio signals it receives. The bass you hear will be closer to what the artist or director/producer intended. The Advanced SAW Bass Reflex design maximizes air flow to produce big, full bass. The speaker cabinet design vastly increases bass output. From cones to cabinets, it all adds up to a better sounding system for you. Line-level and Speaker-level inputs provide you with hook up options designed to integrate easily with different system configurations.

Wow! This baby really packs a punch and thud in every movie. I thought I was sitting in the theater. This is a heavy speaker. Easy to setup. The auto power save feature is a little quirky and shuts off before the 7 minute timer. I personally do not use the auto power saver function and my system gets along just fine. There are many subwoofers out there today, and for the price this one is hard to beat.

The picture just doesnt do it justice. it is big, solid with some weight and thumps like one. you will not have a problem getting the low end on this one. Havent had it too long but so far so good. worth the tiny investment.

Active subwoofer with a lot of performance for the price and has low frequecy response from 20 Hz to 200 Hz. Many features include cut off frequency adjustable from 50- 200 Hz, output level adjustment, phase reversal selector, auto power onoff functionvery useful, line out to another subwoofer plus terminals for front speakers inout. When driven by audio receiver that has frequncy response down to 20 Hz, provided much deeper bass than older audio reciever with smaller subwoofer that was only rated down to 40 Hz. For exmple, the SA-W3000 provided thumping bass of the many night club scenes in the movie, Something Borrowed, and shock the wall when the cannons went off in the movie, Cut Throat Island. A 2m audio cable was supplied with this unit. VANNS provided quick 5 day standard delivery of this 50 lb unit.

IVE ALWAYS USED SONY PAST & PRESENT AND WHEN MY 120 WATT SONY SUB ACTIVE FEATURE ONLY WORKED, BECAUSE OF A WORN OUT SWITCH, AFTER 11 YEARS, I KNEW IT WAS TIME TO REPLACE IT. Ive had this subwoofer for a few weeks now & have to say it is pretty good for the money. I already had floor speakers & center speaker from this series so when my KLH sub bit the dust I decided to go ahead with the same series & Sony. Set up is easy. I put a heavier gauge cable from my receiver to the sub. The one that came with it is very small. But...I didnt really hear any noticable difference in the sound or volume from the new cable. Had to try it though. Im more music oriented than movies altthough you definately know its there when watching movies orTV. Overall, if you want some boom without spending a lot of money, it does the job well.

Man i was impressed with this product added it to a sony surround sound and sounds like a new system this thing shakes the room the only complaint i have is my wife telling me to turn it down thanks sony for a great product dont waste your money on the more expensive speaker this one rocks and i dont have it turned all the way up and i have a 20x18 room and it works great a must buy

Hooked this Sony up with an 5 JBL Northridge 26 setup and wow. Nice clean bass with no distortion. Make sure you spend some money on an nice cable. Had an cheap cable at first and got an weak signal. Bought an nice sub cable and sounds much better.

Being a bit nervous, because we all know that Sony does not carry the highest line of products, I decided to add some thump to my system. First of all, the thing is absolutely huge, which is an attraction for me. Second, contrary to the price, it really does shake my windows, at half volume, and I have it hooked up to my Pioneer VSX-
820-K great reciver, highly recomended. All in all, great product. It may not be for a specialist, but for 95 of us that are looking for a sub, this would suit all of your specs. Plus, bigger really is better, so splurge and go for the 12 , I am very glad I did.

Recently purchased the Sony SA-W3000 Subwoofer.By far Vanns was the best price available free shipping & no sales tax. I expected it to take a week or more to arrive. Imagine my surprise when 3 days later it was on my doorstep. I purchased this to enhance the sound of my stereo system. It is used only for music and not a multi media system. The results are fantastic. Easy to install & adjust. This has completely altered my listening experience in a positive way. It has added body & depth to the sound. Crisp & responsive. No muddiness or throbbing. Lays down a great bottom end that was lacking in my system. I would highly recommend this subwoofer to anyone looking to enhance their current system. Thanks Vanns. Great product, great price. Sounds excellent with plenty of punch. Took a few tries to get it dialed in with my existing speekers but now its a great compliment. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to add clean, deep bass to their music.

For the money a great sub. Definately will hit hard and sometimes accurately. There can be some bloat which is why music is not its strong point. This thing will shake the house though with a movie.

For the price WOW should be twice as much.
For a med to large room in your house you cant go wrong. Mine came from the factory with a dent on the corner and instead of send back got a discount sure did not hurt the sound. Cant go wrong.

I like this sub!! It fills the average living room great!! I did like the older model with the on button on the front but it shouldnt matter because of the eco function. Vanns.com once again did a heck of a job! I am hooked on Vanns!

Componet does what it is meant to do. Im running these with a set of large BIC America tower speakers. The sony sub added depth and punch to the system. However, the sub certainly does not have the punch and volume I was after. The main culpret would be a lack of power.
If your looking for a little extra bass for your system, the SA-W3000 will deliver. If your looking for prominent bass, then look for a sub with more power.

I ORDERED THIS OFF OF THE CLEARANCE OUTLET SITE. IT ARRIVED EARLY. I DO NOT KNOW WHY IT WAS ON THE CLEARANCE SITE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE DAMAGED I GUESS, THE SPEAKER WAS IN PERFECT SHAPE, THE SHIPPING BOX HAD ONLY 1 SMALL TEAR . I HOOKED IT UP IN ABOUT A MINUTE. WORKED PERFECTLY. I WAS SURPRISED AT ITS SIZE. IT IS QUITE BIG. CHECK THE SIZE SPECS FIRST. SOME MAY SAY THAT IT IS NOT LOUD ENOUGH, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY EXPECT, BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS THING SOUNDS GREAT. I ONLY HAVE MINE TURNED UP HALF WAY. IT IS A PERFECT COMPLIMENT TO MY SONY RECEIVER AND OTHER SONY SPEAKERS ON MY SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM. ALL PURCHASED FROM VANNS I HAVE NO HESITATION ON ORDERING ANYTHING FROM VANNS IN THE FUTURE. The Sony SA-W3000 is replacing a similar KLH unit that went bad several months ago. The performance of this unit is nearly identical to the KLH at nearly half the price. The construction of the enclosure seems adequate, although the amplifier section seems somewhat light weight. The onoff switch is a little difficult to find, but once installed and adjusted the difference in my system was remarkable--especially having been without a subwoofer for several months. The automatic shut down feature that powers the unit off when no signal is present works great. If the reliability of this unit is as robust as all the Sony equipment I've owned, it will be a truely great value. I would recommend this unit to anyone with a small to medium sized home theatre system.

This is a great subwoofer. I didnt know a thing about subwoofer and I bought this one based on reviews. I am very happy. The hookup was so easy I couldnt believe it. And it enhances my music listening just like I hoped it would. I dont use it for TV or cable because I dont have it I enjoy music and this is just what I wanted to make my speakers rock. Great product!!!

Had bought the same subwoofer about 5 years ago and it quit so I wanted another one because it was a good one. I read reviews and people said it shakes the windows in the house and the old one would. This new one dont, I have the knobs turned wide open and it is not loud, I went back to reviews and found another person that said the same thing and he returned it and got another one thinking it was defective and the same thing. It has good sound I just cant adjust to my liking. I have tried changing the settings on the stereo to see if it would help but havent found any that helped yet .

I was looking for home theater subwoofer and Im a fan of Sony products. So, when I saw this subwoofer and its price, I knew it was a deal I couldnt pass up. The subwoofer provides a great sound quality and support that my surround sound system really needed-it really brings it all together. And with that price, you cant go wrong. I love the fact that the subwoofer provides a quality sound and allows you to adjust to your room and systems settings.
Also, for those new to purchasing over the internet, like me, I was a bit hesitant and somewhat skeptic. You can put yourself at ease because along with this great product, you get a great consumer service from VANNS. I purchased 2 Sony speakers with dual 8 inch woofers and I thought that they would be plenty of bass, but I was so wrong, I added this 12 inch subwoofer and the bass increase was dramatic.

Main problem is the speaker did not work using the sub out RCA connection. Other than that, the fit and finish were cheap...had extremely hard time getting the front screen on the box...poor design. And finally, VANNs charged me a restock fee for a product that didnt work. Have purchased a lot of items mostly high end from VANNs and have recommended VANNs to numerous high end buyer friends of mine who have also spend big dollars there...first negative experience. The restock fee may end up costing VANNs a lot of future dollars.

When i first bought this i was worried that there wasnt going to be enough watts but boy was i wrong. This little baby produces excellent sound. The only problem i am having is that it shakes my down stair window from like the 1930s. If you pair this with a receiver that does a sound test you will be very happy with your purchase of this product.

First time shopper at Vanns. Excellent service. What a great buy. Being a bass guitar player in a band I can appreciate good bass sounds. I am very satisfied with this Sony powered sub. I just bought one today,brought it home and hooked it up right away.I have a sony mini hi fi stero w\5.1 surround and it pushes 250 watts.Well,after i turned it on and cranked it up i realized THIS THING ROCKS!!!!!! Now my system sounds way better than my buddies 600 watt ONIKYO system. Seriously it does,this sub will turn your average system into a POWERFUL system! Plus it has a lot of nice features, among them is a power save option that I love because i like to fall asleep watching TV. Trust me on this, If you have the cash and your a little dissapointed with your surround system,grab this baby up.YOU CANT GO WRONG!!
