I originally bought 2 of these. I sold the first shortly after purchase because I didn't have a good acoustical place to put it. I love the punch this thing produces. Sounds awesome. Shakes the couch with explosions. The transient response, however, was terrible. The bass sounded sloppy, which was sometimes noticeable with movies, and very often with music. It never blended well with my bookshelf mains. I ended up selling the second one after about a year and a half. For now I'm using my old cheap MTX unit until I find the right one. It doesn't sound as nice but it blends very well with my mains. If you're using this strictly for home theater it will probably make you very happy. I used it for both music and movies, and I'm very picky about my sound - just sayin. Perhaps the 10 inch version would have tighter bass? -good luck.

Although good 8 and 10 subs respond well in music playback its difficult to match the impact a 12 sub has for the home AV system. I have a Klipsch downfacing 8 that is just fantastic with music. But, when it comes to AV its one thing to hear the deep sound of explosions or other effects and another to feel them! This forward facing 12 does just that - without distortion. My AV system uses a microphone to optimize speaker performace. Thus the cut off and output levels are automatically set by the amp. However, the controls are easy and straight forward. I have on occasion increase the output independently on the sub and like I said great sound and feeling with no distortion. Ive played this at level probably deemed unsafe for my ears. I have never heard any pops typical when reaching the performance limit of the speaker. Although thats typical Klipsch - power eaters! Great investment for the home AV nut.

This subwoofer provides an amazing amount of low frequency sound with ease. As a matter of fact, I can barely turn up the gain past 14 without it being too overbearing meaning that there is plenty left I can get from this subwoofer if I choose to move to a place with a bigger room to house my home theater system in. It provides multiple options for you to fine tune exactly how it sounds allowing you ultimate control over the tuning of your system. Its the part of my home theater that I almost enjoy the most, bringing that feel to movies and music making me feel like I am actually a part of the movie or music. No distortion and looks good although only available in black.
