Big bass sound is a wonderful thing, but big subwoofer cabinets aren't. Not only do many subwoofers take up a lot of living room space, but they are often a large and imposing at the same time. Breaking the rule that big bass can only come from big subwoofers, Velodyne introduces the MicroVee. Featuring one active 6.5" forward-firing driver and two passive, side-firing 6.5" radiators, your new MicroVee delivers the big, low-distortion bass that you seek and for which Velodyne is known. Housed inside a 9" x 9" x 9.6" cabinet, these drivers are fired by a Class D Energy Recovery System amplifier that produces 2,000 watts of dynamic power and 1,000 watts of RMS power. Finally, a 50 to 200Hz low-pass crossover delivers consistently deep low tones. The black anodized ribbed aluminum cabinet design is as stylish as the bass is low, and serves the dual function of aiding in the dissipation of damaging heat.

Direct connection, direct bass

To reduce the amount of interference to which your bass signal is exposed, Velodyne has crafted the MicroVee with the Subwoofer Direct crossover bypass design. Subwoofer Direct allows you to bypass your MicroVee's internal crossover for direct connection to the subwoofer outputs of today's surround sound receivers and processors. In addition, it also guarantees optimum performance when connected to the latest digital surround sound equipment or any other home theater decoder.

This little sub can holds its own in the upper 30hz. Its great if you want to hide a sub i actually placed behind my TV and it was totally hidden. I would say its a great sub if you need to fill out the low end, but its not for the loud special effects and rumble which is what I missed. I tried placing in the corner but it was boomy. It did much better away from the corner. What is also great is that you can set and forget, no need to reach for the remote if the bass got to loud.
