Better… faster… iMac
You know you want three things when it comes to your desktop computer: speed, graphics, and the ability to use it without a Ph.D in computer science. With a blazing fast i5 intel quad-core processor, the 2011 Apple iMac desktop computer you can be sure that whether you're editing your latest vacation photos and movies with the included iLife software, streaming video, or composing your newest blog post (or, all of that at once), the iMac will be able to keep things running smoothly. Movies, games and more have never looked better than on the expansive 27", full HD 2560 x 11440p screen. Backlit LED technology gives you a bright, colorful picture, while the AMD Radeon HD graphics processor with 512GB of dedicated video RAM ensure smooth, eye-popping graphics whether you're into gaming, high-def movies, or taking advantage of the built-in FaceTime camera to communicate with friends and family around the world in high definition. All this speed and convenience is wrapped up in Apple's intuitive Snow Leopard OS X. With easy to use and understand simplicity, plus a world of additional apps via the Mac App Store for nearly any situation, you'll be finding plenty of ways to push your iMac to the limit — if you can.
Thunderbolt
Transferring data from external devices can be a slow process, whether it's high quality video from a camcorder, media or presentation files from an external hard drive, or music from a backup collection. Until now. With the Apple Thunderbolt input, developed in conjunction with Intel, you can expect read speeds up to 10GB per second — up to 20x faster than traditional USB 2.0 standards. That means you get to spend less time waiting for your files, because there are more important things to do than watch progress bars.
In the box

This is our first Apple desktop and it replaced a Windows pc. Comparing the differences, the pc sat under my desk and at times sounded like there was a leaf blower under my desk. With the IMac there is virtually no sound, it is elegant, it works like a charm, it is fast and efficient. I was concerned regarding the learning curve between an Apple and a PC, no doubt there is one but if you are willing to focus your startup time it is a minimum. I was also concerned because I have a number of windows based programs thaI I use and I did not want to reinvest a fortune in replacing them. It was recommended to me to use a program called Parralells which allows you to use your windows based programs on an Apple with an Intel processor. Bingo, works great, I have a new apple computer with all the benefits, quiet, fast etc, plus I get to use my windows programs. I have never been happier and the experience with Vanns is always great. I hope this helps if you are thinking about switching to an Apple computer. I am also happy that we went with the 27 screen, at the beginning we thought it might be a little too much or unneeded, but I have to say it is an incredible experience to pull up to my desk and realize that this amazing machine is just waiting for me to start working with it.
