The Intel Pentium M processor is a key component of the breakthrough Centrino technology that also includes the Intel 855 chipset family and wireless LAN (WLAN) capability. Intel's Pentium M processor includes performance enhancements that enable this VAIO notebook to execute instructions faster with less power. The integrated wireless LAN capabilities of Intel Centrino mobile technology gives you easy wireless access anywhere there is an available WLAN access, at home, or around the world. Eliminating the tangles of trailing cables is reason enough to get serious about wireless at home and work. Plus, there's an i.LINK (IEEE-1394) digital interface and Memory Stick media slot for easy download connection to Sony digital camcorders, digital still cameras and other fun and productive A/V products. Whether you're building a spreadsheet or a slideshow, editing a movie or watching one, the bright and beautiful 12.1 inch XGA LCD screen makes using this notebook very easy on the eyes. In addition to Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft Works, this VAIO notebook includes Sony's exclusive multimedia digital editing software package. PictureGear Studio helps you download images and create your own digital photo albums. SonicStage can assist you with downloading music and creating custom CDs. This little gem of a notebook includes a CR-RW/DVD-ROM drive to provide numerous entertaining (and empowering) possibilities. For example, after downloading MP3 files to your computer, you can compile your own playlists and create custom CDs. With your VAIO's combo drive and included software, burning CDs is a blast. When you're done listening to and/or manipulating your music, you may want to drop a DVD into the drive and view a movie on your notebook's 12.1 inch XGA (1024 x 768) TFT display.
