Currently I have a Roku, Sony Network Media Player SMP-N100 and a Panasonic BD-85 Blu ray player with Viera Cast media all hooked up to various TVs. However, I wanted to see what LG had to offer, after reading good things about their media offerings, so I picked up a clearance unit from my favorite Montana online retailer. It arrived quickly and in new condition. I was able to connect into my wireless system in literally less than a minute. Immediately the unit wanted to do a software update which was completed in about three minutes. The GUI is very intuitive, and easy to navigate. The unit seems very stable on wireless, and exhibits good PQAQ. The Sony has better PQAQ than the Roku, Panasonic or the LG, but the Sony does have some problems with streaming Netflix, and I sometimes have to finish watching a movie using the Panasonic BD-85. I have a feeling that this problem may be related to the problems Sony is having with their system after the hacking incident, as it seems stable now with few incidents. Panasonic is very stable, but offers very little on-line content. The Roku is very stable and offers a huge amount of on-line applications. So, Im impressed with the LG and am having fun using it.
Absolutely what I was looking for!!! (June 28, 2011)

I started out looking for a blu-ray that had a buiilt-in- wifi connection. I went to every website and every store but the prices were just a little bit more than I wanted to spend. I went to Best Buy and the salesperson pointed me in the direction of the LG Smart TV Upgrader. After speaking with him, I was convinced that it was what I needed only I did not want to pay the price that they were seliing it for. So I shopped around until I ran into the Vanns website, I had never heard of the on-line store before, so I did some investigating and ended up purchasing the Smart TV Upgrader from Vanns because their price was actually $16 cheaper than Best Buy and I did not have to pay any shipping cost, so I was super excited. So I received my purchase within a timely manner and I absolutely love the product. It was very easy to set-up and I love the fact that I am able to just watch a movie without having to search for a dvd or blue-ray. I also like the fact that I can listen to any radio station that I desire if I want. This was an excellent purchase for me. I absolutely love the choice!!

Purchased this for the 32 Dynex 720p HD set in the bedroom when I purchased a LG 42LV5500 for the Living Room, works great, no issues streaming VUDU , netflix, youtube, web browsing works just as well as the internet features embedded in the above TV..... playing supported media from thumb drive via usb port flawless as well....cannot say how it stacks to similar products roku, boxee etc... as never owned any of them, but am very satisfied with this little black box and would buy again should the need for an additional unit arise in the future. Only thing I see that would be an improvement is Hulu support and Magic Motion remote vs the touch pad, functions like that on a laptop, once one gets the hang of it is almost as good.
