I researched a lot of lenses before purchasing this one. Most of the comments compared this to high end zooms costing $500.00 and up. The most frequently cited shortcomings were the lack of image stabilation and a slow autofocus due to it not being ring style ultrasonic.
I am not a professional photog, but I can tell you that this is probably the best lens for the money. The autofocus takes in my estimation about 0.3 - 0.5 seconds compared to maybe 0.1 - 0.2 seconds on my other Canon lens which is the preferred style. The lens is Canon and lives up to their quality standard. If you are looking for a long reaching zoom lens that you will use on a tripod or in good lighting, you cannot beat this! |
