Don't count on this case to save your GPS from sinking to the bottom of the lake. Unless you're a very fast swimmer you'd probably be better off securing your eTrex with a lanyard. In my own tests it only took approximately 5 seconds for the eTrex and this case to begin sinking.
My second issue with this case is the glare I get from the plastic window. The window is made of a soft pliable plastic which reflects glare in multiple directions making it difficult to see the eTrex display clearly in most lighting conditions, indoors our out.
Having said all that, I am impressed with the quality of the case. It fits the eTrex like a glove, and it looks rather handsome. This case might be a good choice if you are looking to protect the finish of your eTrex while in use, otherwise I would recommend spending a bit more for the Garmin eTrex holster, which will allow carrying the eTrex on your belt but will not obstruct your view of the eTrex display while you are using it. |

I find this product next to useless. I, in common with a previous reviewer, find the glare from the window troublesome. The case affords little protection to the click stick of the Vista - my unit had to go back for repair after two years of moderate use. But most importantly of all, because of the open ended belt clip, the case and unit actually fell off my belt - luckily, a companion spotted it when I didn't.
I'm currently looking for a suitable hard case, which completely encloses the unit, but haven't yet found anything suitable. |
