Monitor headphones (as in recording studio or radio station work) are supposed to be big and heavy, right? Not so fast. At only 2.32 ozs, these new SLIMZ design super thin and lightweight, over-the-ear RPHX70K headphones from Panasonic will change your mind. There's a single-sided, retractable almost four foot cord that makes it more difficult to garrote yourself should you stray beyond cord range of a heavy source component. Large foam earpads make for comfortable listening and the fold-flat design with the included ultra-thin carrying case make traveling trouble-free.

Great set of headphones for travel. For the price they sound great and the size along with the retractable cord makes them easy to travel with.

In searching for the close to perfect headphones , I stumbled on the Panasonic RP-HX70. These phones are small and lightweight, which is good if one already has full-size headphones. I look for comfort and sound quality in that order and these pass the test. The build quality, however, may not be as good as it could be. I can only asses this by visual observation I have not had them long enough to test durability. They look fragile and may well indeed be too fragile for hard use or portability with no care. The rewind feature of the cord is clever and a good idea.If they hold up to moderate hard use, I would rate these 4 stars out of 5
