At first the adapter did not work at all, I thought I wasted money.
The receiver notified me that it needed a firmware update, voila the system found my wireless network after the update had completed...I could not be happier! Then I downloaded the remote for the iphone and ipad....very happy!

I own a Onkyo TX-NR609 AV Receiver, and power a 5.1 set of Energy Take Classic speakers with it, but I was missing something. The ability to connect wirelessly to the my internet at home. The connection is on the other side of the room, and although I took the time to do in wall wiring for my surround sound speakers, subwoofer, and satellite TV, I didnt even think about wiring ethernet to the the other side of the room since I use wireless throughout the house. Thank goodness, the NR609 is WiFi ready and Vanns came to the rescue with this Onkyo UWF-1 wifi dongle. The price is so much cheaper than buying for a Panasonic or Sony or Marantz receiver system, and the set up and sound is great. After I plugged in and connected to the internet using my password, I then went ahead and updated all of the drivers and stuff in the receiver wirelessly. Works great!

Very bad at picking up a wireless signal. If placed next to a repeater, works. If you cant do that, dont bother buying.

It does what its supposed to, but the signal strength on it is only marginal. My router is less than 20 feet away and it doesnt get full signal. For reference I have the top of the line Cisco E4200. It works for steaming music without any trouble but, it probably wouldnt be able to handle video streaming if your receiver supports it?

Purchase this adapter to stream music from the internet. Connection to my wirelless network was simple, plugged it in to my Onkyo receiver and off it went.
For a $29 price tag, who could beat that? The one for my Sony TV costs $79, winning.
Delivered as promised by Vanns,.
Love It, would recommend to anyone.

I bought this to use with the Onkyo TXNR-809. It works like its supposed to but there are two things I dont really like about it. One when the Wireless dongle is in place and working, you cannot close the front panel. Petty yes, but it does sort of steal from the asthetic qualities of the reciever. Two, you cannot do the neccessary updates via the dongle. The reciver has to have hard line access to the router to update. This really doesnt make much sense to me but it is not the fault of the UWF-1. The UWF-1 works fine for streaming music and such. I have not plugged it back in since the last update beucase I can reach a hard line to the back of the reciever.

I hate wires, so it was a no-brainer to buy this for my ONKYO receiver, as it has the best online content of any receiver in its class. The nice added surprise was when I found an app for my Android phone that operates my receiver via Bluetooth. I can be outside, in another room, in the bathtub, and I can operate my receiver! I also found the USB adapter works in the back as well as the front, the instructions say to use the front. At first it seemed a little expensive, but once I found all it can do, it was well worth the price, just for the Android app alone. Great little accessory.

I got this in addition to the Onkyo NR609 receiver. I dont really intend on using it though because I have my router close enough to the receiver to run the hard-wire ethernet cable. You CANNOT update firmware through wireless may come in the future, so that is one draw-back. Also its not the easiest thing to set-up. However, for the price, why on earth would you NOT have this in your back pocket in case you need or want to change around configuration? Better prepared for a low cost, than shopping around later for some make-shift band-aid.

Product arrived as promised - followed instructions to set it up - no good - just sat at Connecting. Tried a few more times, still no go. Thought of calling Vanns for a replacement but decided it was best to contact Onkyo first.
Turns out the receiver I have TXNR-609 came out BEFORE the UWF1! A firmware update via flash drive to the receiver, and 45 minutes later, VOILA! Works like a charm.
Neither Vanns or I had any way to know this.
The UWF1 has enough wireless options to satisfy just about any level user. Connection to the router is stabile and quick.
Vanns price is EXTREMELY reasonable compares to other vendors - okay, it was downright cheap! Good value for the dollars, and saved me from running 90 feet of CAT5.

Easy way to add wireless connectivity to a compatible receiver. Installation was easy. For those that need it, MAC address is not listed anywhere on the box but can be read either by plugging the dongle into a PC and running ipconfig all from a command line screen, or by going into the manual wireless setup screen of the receiver you are plugging it into.
