Be prepared

When the lamp goes out on your Sony Grand WEGA XBR Series SXRD rear projection HDTV, it's not the end of the world. It's not even the end of your TV. Fortunately, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars for a new TV, you just have to replace the lamp. Be sure to use an original equipment replacement like this Sony manufactured XL5300 lamp. Be careful when you change the lamp

Don't remove the lamp cartridge immediately after turning off the television. You may get burned because the lamp is very hot.

Allow the television to cool for at least one hour before replacing the lamp cartridge.

Don't remove the lamp cartridge except when replacing it. Careless treatment can result in injury or fire.

Don't touch the lamp glass element. It may be very hot and break, causing injuries or burns; and oils from your fingers may cause premature lamp failure.

I previously bought a cheaper knock off and what a mistake that was. The bulb lasted about six months and then I had nothing but a dark picture to look at. The Sony bulb is the way to go and Vanns has the best prices.

Why bother with non Sony bulbs. Got 6500 hours from my last one. Worth the extra cost. Love the set!

OEM replacement lamp with housing. Less than 5 minutes to replace. Picture back to spectacular. Original and first replacement lamp changed at about 4500 hours each. Rated life is 3000 hours. I just do not see any reason to go with cheap third party lamps.
