Who likes to be in control?
Simple isn't always best. If you remember, your old microwave oven had two settings: On and Off. That was great if you wanted to use the microwave either to store extra plates or to heat something to unpredictably hot states. So, not that great. Bringing you a wide range of control over every item you place inside it, the LMV1680 microwave from LG sports a variety of quick and convenient cooking options. Ten power levels let you customize the oven's settings for each individual dish, while specialty settings like Add 30 Seconds, Hold Warm, and Melt/Soften let you tack on extra cooking time without stopping the oven, keep a dish warm while the rest of the meal cooks, and melt or soften tricky foods like butter or chocolate chips.
Take your leftovers for a spin
We hate to break this to you, but microwave technology isn't perfect. Microwave ovens concentrate heating/cooking energy in one area of the oven, so simply placing a dish inside might not result in even heating and cooking. Enter the turntable . . . By simply rotating your food around within the oven's interior, the LMV1680's 12.7" turntable helps deliver foods that are evenly heated and cooked. Oh, and a bi-level cooking rack adds a second shelf level, letting you take full advantage of the oven's interior cooking capacity.
Cooking, clearly
Cooking can be a volatile endeavor. Billowing steam rises from a pot of boiling pasta water, blackened meats sizzle and smoke as they sear, a lazy pot of spaghetti sauce heavily burps and bubbles at a low simmer, and suddenly you've got a kitchen full of vapors. Your new LMV1680 is no mere microwave . . . it's an over-the-range microwave. A two-speed, 300CFM venting fan draws all that smoke and steam away from your range top, collecting the mess in a carbon-coated charcoal filtration system. Teamed up with built-in incandescent cooktop lighting, the LMV1680's venting system gives you a clear view of all your range-top culinary marvels.

Much easier to install than my old GE over the range microwave. Air is exhausted up instead of out of the front I find this a very good feature. However, the fan is noisy. The instruction manual is poorly written and confusing, but with some practice the controls work very well. No 1-6 minute instant on feature, that is what I miss most. Cooks most food quickly and evenly. One caution, the inner bottom corner of the door is pointy and sharp it has caught onto my shirt sleeve. A child or short person could be poked or scratched by this.

I have only had the microwave for a few weeks but so far it performs well. I have only used it to warm up food and have not tried any of the other many features it offers. My only complaint is that it is very loud when it is working. I only compare that to the last two microwaves I have owned. It does have an extra shelf which I am sure will come in handy at some time but I do not keep it in the microwave when I am not using it as it seems to be noisy when opening the microwave. I would give this a performance rating of 4.

Easy to use. I like the rack in the middle for heating extra dishes. I like the fact that the vents are on the top instead of the front of the oven. The last one I used had vents in front and they collected dust clumps I could not get out. They were very visable when you approached the oven not a pretty site.

The unit arrived in a huge overpack box to protect it during shipping. It also allows what is arriving to be camoflaged from prying eyes as a value of the internal item cannot be determined. The unit was easy to install with clear directions. We have been using the unit for approx 2 weeks with no problems, it is a nice basic microwave that gets the job done. I would recommend this unit to a friend. The no state tax and free shipping made this agreat deal for our family.

My LG over-the-counter microwave is fantastic. It has more settings than the Sears model that quit working. It is quiet and has a wide variety of microwaving settings. It was also a breeze to install. I checked it out carefully after installation and was surprised at the quality of parts and its efficiency in cooking. I am now a new LG fan and plan to buy other LG products. They are very well made. Plus, the cost of this model beat every other one I researched. The cost plus installation could not be matched by any other manufacturer I looked at.
