UltraBrilliant viewing with LED backlighting
This should come as no surprise: the key to reproducing all your favorite cinematic moments with vivid realism is . . . light. But not just any light . . advanced light sources like the UltraBrilliant LED System offered by Sharp's LE700UN LCD series. Flat panel HDTVs with inferior light sources or poor light management deliver images with low brightness, washed-out detail, and reduced color purity. The UltraBrilliant LED System, on the other hand, features a full array of LED lights evenly dispersed behind the diffuser, enabling enhanced image uniformity, even on a 40" widescreen, full 1080p panel. And, combined with a double-dome light amplifier and multi-fluorescents, high brightness levels and advanced color purity are achieved. And that's just the light source. The LC-40LE700UN features a Full HD 1080p XGen LCD panel with 10-bit processing and Crystalucent coating technology, offering advanced pixel control for minimized light leakage and improved aperture width. The result is incredible detail thanks to one of the industry's highest contrast levels.
AQUOS Net . . . personalization via the web
The modern home A/V experience is defined by integrating multiple functions into one device. Cell phones with built-in MP3 players, digital cameras that record HD video, etcetera. If you find yourself sitting in front of the TV at night, catching a show and checking weather and stocks on your laptop, it might be time to combine two more devices: your HDTV and internet capability. Sporting AQUOS Net internet capability via ethernet, the Sharp LC-40LE700UN allows you to access and personalize web-based content via on-screen widgets, or icons. Simply push a button on the remote and you can check weather on WeatherBug, track stocks on NASDAQ, play games like black jack and Sudoku on Accedo Broadband, and monitor traffic on NAVETEQ Traffic. You can even follow daily comic strips on UCLICK or view beautiful HD photos on the AQUOS Gallery. And that's just the beginning. AQUOS Net also delivers access to unparalleled customer support, including the ability to allow AQUOS Advantage advisors to connect to your HDTV and optimize TV setting for ideal viewing. All from AQUOS Net. (Existing broadband internet connection required.)
LED = Light-Efficient Display
Okay, so LED really stands for "Light Emitting Diode", but the LC-40LE700UN's full-array LED backlight design serves up class-leading energy-efficient performance in addition to stunning color and detail reproduction. For starters, LEDs are inherently more environment- and energy-friendly than fluorescent lights: While no additional DA/AC conversion is required to power them, they also contain no mercury. Further, Sharp's full-array LED design offers dramatically improved energy efficiency by integrating two features. First, shorter light paths &mdash in comparison with CCFL and edge-lit LED backlights — reduce the amount of light and power needed to fully illuminate the screen. Second, by using air — which has a high transmissive rate — instead of acrylic fibers to distribute light behind the panel, less light and energy is required to achieve ideal brightness levels. Naturally energy-efficient LEDs combine with Sharp's full-array LED backlight design to offer the lowest energy consumption of any LCD HDTV on the market, surpassing ENERGY STAR 3.0 requirements for operation while in On mode.
Smooth delivery
A hockey puck is not a quantum particle. When you're watching your favorite player make a pass, you should be able to follow the puck along its entire trajectory as it cruises across the ice. The puck should not leave the passer's possession, disappear, and then reappear in the receiver's vicinity. Similarly, when you're watching a football game or your favorite action movie, the running back shouldn't look shaky as he weaves through defensemen, and the getaway car shouldn't seem jittery as it zips down a highway. Reproducing video with natural smoothness, Sharp's LC-40E700UN features 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced video processing. By increasing the frame rate four-fold, and even five-fold, 120Hz processing is able to achieve lifelike, judder-free motion, especially during fast-action sports or movie sequences.
Share your latest adventure
Whether you're just back in town from an extended weekend in Banff National Park or a pilgrimage across northern Spain, chances are you've got some fairly spectacular digital photos to share with friends and family. If only you didn't have to crowd everyone around your computer monitor for the slideshow . . . Enter the LC-40LE700UN from Sharp with built-in USB photo viewer. A USB port allows you to connect your computer or a USB thumb drive with all your photos on it to the LC-40LE700UN, effectively converting the screen into a 40" frame for sharing the highlights of your latest adventure.
Your home theater system
You don't have a collection of home theater components; you have a home theater system. And as with any system, the better integrated each element is with every other element, the better the system performs. And, when it comes to home theater, one word sums up system integration: connectivity. For seamless setup and integration into your system, the Sharp LC-40LE700UN features a wide variety of connectivity options. First, a whopping four HDMI inputs deliver an abundance of the most advanced HD audio/video connection available (for more information HDMI, read "The advanced connectivity of HDMI" below). For further HD connectivity, this LCD offers two HD component-video inputs with 1080p compatibility. Finally, two composite-video and one S-video input serve up versatile standard definition audio and video, while four L/R audio inputs offer multiple audio connections.
Get tuned in
Geared up and ready for the Digital Television Transition (the government mandated switch to all-digital television broadcasting) the Sharp LC-40LE700UN comes equipped with digital ATSC and QAM tuners. These digital tuners make receiving and enjoying digitally broadcast content — whether from the air or from cable or satellite — easy and worry-free.
The advanced connectivity of HDMI
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Sharp's LC-40LE700UN features four HDMI connections. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components. It's only natural that you might have questions regarding how best to outfit your personal HD system. Vann's sales representatives are here to explain all of your options.
