Everything you want and more
The LG 55LW5600 has it all, and then some. This 55" beauty features a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution with LED backlighting and local dimming for incredible contrast and detail. There are plenty of different picture modes, and Picture Wizard II and ISFccc-readiness ensure that your picture is fine-tuned to be "just right," while an Intelligent Sensor adjusts the brightness based on your room's lighting so the picture stays right, day or night. The sensor also helps save energy, leading the 55LW5600 to earn ENERGY STAR certification. But this LED LCD has much more to offer. It's also 3D TV, so you can enjoy the latest Full HD 3D Blu-rays. It will even upconvert 2D content to artificial 3D, and the LW5600 will let you adjust the depth on your 3D so it looks natural to you. Four pairs of 3D glasses are even included! The included Wi-Fi adapter gives you even more entertainment options. DLNA certification lets you access media from other devices (like PCs) on your home network. But the fun really smarts with Smart TV and the LG App Store. Smart TV offers instant streaming from a wide variety of top content providers for movies, TV, music, and even photos. Meanwhile, the LG App Store lets you download a variety of fun and useful Apps to your TV, from social networking to entertainment to informative Apps. With this TV, your entertainment options are virtually limitless!
3D done different
The 3D of the LG 55LW5600 isn't the same as most of the 3DTVs that have come out in the past year or so. Most modern 3DTVs use a technique called active shutter. Basically, it shows a picture for the right eye and a picture for the left eye in quick succession for each frame, displaying a total of 240 frames per second. The glasses feature two LCD lenses that block out one eye at a time (at the same super-fast speed), so that each eye only sees the frames meant for it. It's pretty cool technology, but it has some downsides. For starters, the glasses are expensive and heavier because they require batteries. That's where passive 3D technology on TVs like this one comes in. With passive 3D technology, rather than having two separate pictures per frame, one frame is shown with the pictures for both the right and left eyes (120 frames per second). The glasses feature special polarized lenses so that each eye only sees that part of the picture meant for it. Not only does this make the glasses lighter, more affordable, and more comfortable, it offers a wider viewing angle and smoother picture. Passive 3D is the same technology used in 3D movie theaters. Because of its numerous advantages, passive 3D systems like LG's Cinema 3D TV are actually preferred 3 to 1 by movie-watchers. So as you shop for a new 3DTV, remember that not all 3D is created equal.
What's in the box?

Excellent display, and 3D, great sound of the TV speakers, I found it a little bit difficult to setup everything. Great price compare to the same TV made by Samsung. Excellent service from Vanns, with free shipping and no tax, and still got the TV in 4 days and the delivery people checked it before leaving my house.

Light weight, easy to set up with wonderful features. Has the ability to turn 2D into 3D, you may not get the same effect from actual 3D video but its still cool to watch movies and shows in the 3D mode. The picture is crystal clear, you may have to dabble with the setting to get the desired picture you want but its easy to do. We have three gaming systems and a DVR and all hook right up to the TV no problem. This is our first 3D television and our first this size and we couldnt be happier.

I really like the television - when it works. I have had to have LG service it twice. The main logic board is wonky. HDMI1 isnt working and when they replaced the board it still didnt work. Replacing it knocked out the wifi. I am waiting for LG to send a technician to fix it again. When it works it is great!!!!! The internet and the 3D are enjoyable. The menu is easy to use. It is my first LG so I am not certain if I got a lemon or if they are just poorly built.

I pretty much relied on Consumers Reports for my research. Their eval was on the 47 unit instead of the 55 but other than size, the models are identical. I did check a few user reviews on the internet, which were mostly favorable. I compared this model to the higher priced models on the LG web site, but I didnt see any additional features on the higher priced models that I thought would justify paying the higher price. Ive only had the set for a couple of weeks now but Im quite happy with it. The Smart TV features are nice, such as being able to connect to a media server software included running on a local PC. I do recommend that you use auxiliary speakers because they really cant put a decent speaker in the these skinny dimensions. I think that is true even of the higher end sets.

Great value and bang for the buck. I do notice some jerkiness when the screen pans that can make you blink a bit to avoid getting dizzy, but its not noticeable normally or when things are moving on the screen. The upconvert 2D to 3D is amazing and better then many 3d movies in the theater. I and my family was amazed! Over all we are very pleased, but would pay a bit extra to get the 240 refresh rate next time. We will use this TV for the foreseeable future. Set up was a breeze, and easy to use the premium features like netflix, and the pointer device works like a mouse and is great as well.

We purchased this television after many months of research comparing flat screen television features as well as cost and trying to balance both. The quality of the picture is exceptional and even in store environments as we traveled from retailer to retailer it stood out among the rest in color, resolution, crispness of picture. In our home it is even better. We connect to cable but use antenna TV from time to time also--both pictures are amazing. The variety of features on the television are the best we have seen and we have been experimenting with them all since we opened this Christmas present to our family. The 3-D option is quite good and we looked at many brands with active and inactive glasses. The other essential for us was the energy star rating. Overall, the experience with our selected retailer and with the LG 55LW5600 television continues to be stellar. We couldnt be happier.

The TV was much more difficult to initially set up than any past experiences. I needed to call LG support several times before we finally got everything working. Most of the time spent was due to the lack of knowledge of the LG Techs. Two of them did not even know what ARC, Audi Return Channel, was and insisted I needed an additional cable from the TV in order to receive sound... Also, the manual is incorrect in which port to plug into to receive the internet---according to the Techs. It is the top one and not the second down as displayed in the photos.. Also, you need to read about Simplink. It is very important to get that function working properly. If you are not tech savvy, I highly recommend you get expert help in setting up your system especially if plan to have surround sound, BlueRay player, etc.

Out of the box this tv has great picture quality and with a little work and research it can be made even better. If you play games then when you first connect your tv to your game system you WILL notice a lag issue. Again with some changes this can be FIXED. To fix this issue press the input button then the green button to label the input. Some say labeling to the game systems input to PC works but i found that labeling the input as game then setting the aduio and video modes to Game in the Q. menu will remove almost all lag. After making this change response times were great. The T.V has 3-4 different menus and it will take some time to learn how to get to each menu and what each menu does. Based on the tweaks and multiple menus to get the most out of this t.v. i lowered the ease of use to 3. Really if you do not play games you can just plug in and use this t.v. with great picture quality and probably wont dissapointed but after seeing what this tv can do with some tweaks it really is a awesome tv.

I have both the LE8500 and LE 5600 sets and the picture quality is comparable between the 2. I like the non reflective screen of the 5600 and the fact that it weighs about half as much as the 8500. However, the 8500s overall picture is noticeably better. Of course, it ought to be given the full array LED back lighting and price difference!
Im not a fan of 3D, but what little 3D Ive watched DirecTV, does show that the LG does a respectable job. I do occasionally notice some fuzzyness to the 3D images, and some action-oriented scenes pixelate, but that may be due to my source. In the future, I will benchmark it with a good 3D bluray before I pass final judgement.
The 5600 connected seamlessly to my wireless network and access to the apps and premium services was not a problem.

I did months of research before narrowing in on the LG LW5600 and this has been one of the best purchase decisions I've made. Picture - The picture is sharp, colors are vivid and the 120Hz is awesome. Watched both Tangled and Despicable Me on 3d and it is just out of the world! The passive 3d glasses are also easy on the eyes. Sound - The sound from the TV alone is pretty good but I've connected it to an Onkyo 7.1 home theater system. Inputs - Plenty of HDMI inputs. It also has a digital audio output. There is no analog output, so please be aware. The wireless adapter is awesome too... no more dangling Ethernet wires from the TV. Overall I'm VERY happy with the TV and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a 3d TV. Don't spend that extra $$$ on a Samsung.. LG is more than what you need and you will not be disappointed!
