TV Or Computer--Same Great Picture
The new single-chip video processor used by this Sony KLVS23A10 integrates a 3D comb filter with a motion-adaptive IP converter, improving picture contrast and detail while reducing video noise and image blur--all of which means you get an incredible picture. And you get that incredible picture both from TV inputs and computer inputs. There's a dedicated PC analog RGB HD 15 jack that allows you to display VGA, SVGA, XGA, or WXGA computer inputs on the KLVS23A10's spectacular 23" screen. Your computer's audio signal is handled by a stereo mini-jack (3.5 mm). When you're watching TV or DVDs, all signals are displayed at the screen's 1366 x 768 native resolution so you won't lose any detail from a high definition video source. And with the new WEGA Gate Easy Operation guide, you can navigate to the most convenient TV functions like favorite channels, channel list, external input, or settings using the multibrand remote control. Favorite Channel lets you store and quickly access eight of your favorite channels and each of the six video inputs can be labeled with actual names like DVD, Satellite, or VCR instead of Video 1, Video 2, or Video 3.
Meeting Your Needs Now And Into The Future
Right out of the box, your new LCD WEGA flat panel television is the ideal widescreen viewing solution. It opens up a wide spectrum of entertainment possibilities. Complete with a built-in NTSC Standard TV tuner, this 16:9 aspect ratio monitor is built to HDTV standards, meaning it's capable of displaying high-definition and enhanced-definition TV signals. (A separate ATSC HDTV tuner/decoder--not included--is required to receive HD or ED programming.) Designed to meet your viewing needs now and into the digital future, the KLVS23A10 is compatible with all the most popular current and up-and-coming display formats (480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i). With Picture Mode you can select Vivid, which enhances the contrast and sharpness; Standard, for typical viewing environments; or Pro, which displays the picture like a professional monitor with minimal enhancements. Dynamic Picture circuitry works to maintain image detail in the very bright or very dark areas of the image, while Light Sensor measures ambient light in the room and adjusts the picture brightness to match the light level.
Makes Film On Video Just Like The Theater
Additionally, the superb picture quality of this HDTV monitor is enhanced by the CineMotion 3-2 Reverse feature. This is high-scanning technology that overcomes problems when movie film (which is shot at 24 frames per second) is displayed on progressive scanning televisions (which operate at 30 frames per second). In order to display 30 frames, some televisions take scanning lines from two adjacent movie frames and force-fit them into one television frame. This causes artifacts, those unwanted visible effects in the picture created by disturbances in the video transmission of processing. And this frequently happens, too--occurring on two out of every five video frames! But, this problem isn't just limited to movies, it happens during prime-time TV. Many dramas, music videos, and commercials are also shot at 24 frames per second and that's why CineMotion 3-2 reverse pull-down is so important. It analyzes the picture, identifying the difference between footage shot on interlaced video and footage shot on film. And, for the times when you actually do get to watch film footage, the system will retain the integrity of the original film frames. You'll see a clearer, more stable picture, especially on scenes with lots of movement. In addition to CineMotion Reverse 3-2 technology, the 3D comb filter on the KLVS23A10 is also analyzing the picture over three dimensions: vertical, horizontal, and time, to get superb detail and high color purity under the widest range of picture conditions.
Sounds As Good As It Looks
In audio lingo the "sweet spot" is the zone where audio sounds its best. Most of the time this is not truly a sweet situation. Put an average system in a typical room and you may not have much of a sweet spot. Rather than rearrange the furniture or settle for sound that's less than it should be, you should turn an ear toward SRS's TruSurround system. TruSurround eliminates the need to sit in the sweet spot to enjoy the best sound. It also generates the lifelike sound of rear speakers using only the KLVS23A10's two 5 watt, full-range, built-in stereo speakers. It's like getting a free pair of invisible speakers, so you can enjoy sweet sound from anywhere in the room and everyone gets a good seat. You get Sony's Steady Sound, a wonderful feature that keeps you from being "blasted" by those really loud and obnoxious commercials. This feature ensures a consistent audio output between commercials and programs. And, don't forget there's the Audio Output that can be set for fixed or variable output, giving you the option of sending your television's audio to an external sound system and either controlling the volume through your receiver/amplifier (fixed output) or through your TV (variable output).
HDMI--All Digital, All The Time
The KLVS23A10 offers an array of connections, including HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), the latest single-cable digital-to-digital connection, that provides an uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface between this TV and any other HDMI-equipped A/V components like a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver. HDMI accepts 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i signals and is backwards compatible with DVI connections by using an adapter (not included). The component video inputs also accept 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i signals, and there are S-Video and composite video inputs available as well.
Fits Where You Need It To Fit
Sony mounts the KLVS23A10 on a removable tabletop stand, which allows 15 degrees swivel left and right, 3 degrees forward (down) tilt, and 8 degrees back (up) tilt. There's an included support belt that bolts to the base of the stand and is attached to the back of the shelf where the TV is located. If you prefer, there are mounting holes on the back of the TV for an optional (not included) wall-mount bracket. The spacing of the mounting holes and the optional wall-mount bracket both comply to industry standards set by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association).
