Blu-ray with a side of 3D — to go!
Samsung gets a jump on entertainment with their BD-C8000 portable 3D-compatible Blu-ray Disc player. Built with a 10.3" screen, the BD-C8000 increases viewing pleasure while maintaining a conveniently portable size. Enjoy Blu-ray, DVDs, CDs, internet apps, even content you have stored on a USB drive, anywhere your feet will take you. And when you're not on the go, the HDMI connection makes it easy to send the video and audio signals to your HD TV (or any TV with HDMI connectivity). But, the most exciting aspect of the BD-C8000 is its 3D capability. Thanks to the 240Hz refresh rate, the BD-C8000 fully supports 3D movie technology. And sporting one HDMI v1.4 output, 3D can be streamed directly from the BD-C8000 to your 3D-ready TV. With new Blu-ray movies available in 3D and 3D TV programming already started, you'll have more entertainment options than you can handle.
More than wireless streaming . . . Samsung Internet@TV
You like the idea of an all-in-one, one-stop media powerhouse in your home theater system, which is exactly why you're investing in the Samsung BD-C8000 Blu-ray player with Internet@TV and Samsung Apps. Once connected to your home's broadband internet service — via the built-in wireless LAN — the BD-C8000 looks to these two technologies to tap you into a diverse realm of online audio and video content. Stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix or Blockbuster. Check out the latest video craze on YouTube. Tweet on Twitter. Manage your Facebook page. Stream personalized radio from Pandora. And that's just the beginning. The online connectivity and widget-based interface offered by Internet@TV and Samsung Apps also bring you access to Picasa, Flickr, Monopoly gaming, AccuWeather, USA Today, and more. Head for the web with the BD-C8000.
Interactive interconnectivity
When it comes to wired and wireless networking, this Blu-ray player from Samsung doesn't stop with Internet@TV and Samsung Apps. AllShare technology allows you to sync the BD-C8000 up with your DLNA-certified home network devices. Once connected, you're free to stream audio and video from your PC or home network directly to your home theater system.
DLNA: Because we can all get along
The BD-C8000 allows you to wirelessly stream digital photos from your PC or other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) enabled devices to your Blu-ray Disc player. How does it work? First you need to set up a home network — wired or wireless because DLNA Certified devices today connect and communicate with each other via the network. If you're new to networking, this may sound daunting. It's not. The smart capabilities of most hardware nowadays makes set up a snap. Once you have your network established, all you need to do is connect DLNA-certified products. (DLNA-certified products are built to work together no matter which company made the product. And there are currently 60 corporations collaborating, so opportunities abound.) Now you can print photos from your t.v. or telephone, play music from a variety of devices, play movies located on your computer — the possibilities are endless. The beauty of collaboration is the freedom of choice.
It's all about the Blu
If you haven't heard of Blu-ray Disc before, here's a quick crash course. DVD technology uses a wide red laser to record movies onto the disc. Blu-ray Disc, on the other hand, uses a narrower blue-violet laser to do its encoding. Consequently, a dramatically larger amount of information can be recorded in the same space. In fact, a Blu-ray disc can store over five times the information of a DVD. This makes it possible for both full high definition 1920 x 1080p video and HD 7.1-channel audio to be stored on a single disc. And that's just the beginning. There's also plenty of room left over for special features and behind-the-scenes extras. Samsung's BD-C8000 not only supports a variety of Blu-ray formats, but also gives you the ability to play back DVDs and CDs, as well as audio and images recorded using formats such as MP3, and JPEG. Further, DivX certification gives you the ability to watch video recorded using this compression codec.
Keepin' connected
While the BD-C8000's Wi-Fi connectivity options are great for accessing online content, they aren't the only important connections. No HD device is complete without an HDMI connection. As the most advanced digital interface, HDMI is capable of transmitting HD video and audio via a single cable. Ensuring that all 1920 x 1080 pixels of your Blu-ray Disc movie reach your HDTV, Samsung has outfitted the BD-C8000 with a single HDMI output. Plus, a USB terminal makes it easy to watch video or listen to music stored on a USB flash drive.
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components. It's only natural that you might have questions regarding how best to outfit your personal HD system. Vann's sales representatives are here to explain all of your options.
