Hassle-free surround sound
So you've got a great-looking flatscreen. Unfortunately, most modern TVs are as thin on sound as they are physically. Just as unfortunately, getting full sound in your home theater is a huge hassle. For surround sound you have to find space for at least six speakers, run cables all around the room, none of which is cheap. Now, are you ready for the good news? Polk has a better option. If you'd like to fill your room with surround sound without all the hassle or expense, consider the SurroundBar3000. This handy solution pairs multiple drivers in a single elongated speaker that will complement the aesthetics of your flatscreen beautifully. Then, using proprietary psychoacoustics, the SoundBar3000 tricks your mind into thinking you're hearing true surround sound. With 100W of power in the SoundBar itself, you can count on savoring every detail with precise directional accuracy next time you sit down to watch a movie. Better still, unlike competitors, Polk's SoundBar doesn't depend on perfect placement and sound reflections, so it's much more accurate and versatile than other models. Perhaps the most appealing feature of this simulated-surround system is the price tag, though. When you consider the cost of a full home theater system and wiring for all around the room, the SoundBar3000 is practically a steal!
Boom!
Loud, clear, enveloping sound is great, but great sound without the low bass notes is like having salad without the dressing, they're much better together. As such, the SoundBar3000 includes an 80W subwoofer to bring you the lower end of the audio spectrum. Not only does the subwoofer included with the SoundBar3000 provide ample "thump" to your special effects track, it does it with the same level of convenience that your SoundBar handles your audio with. This subwoofer is wireless! Setting up the system is a breeze — connect the SoundBar to your flatscreen using the included digital optical cable, plug the power cable into the SoundBar and then into the wall, connect the subwoofer's power cord, set the SoundBar and subwoofer to the same channel, turn them both on, and bam! — you're ready to start enjoying simulated surround sound with heart-pounding bass. It seriously is that simple.
What's in the box?
Included with the SoundBar3000 is the SoundBar3000 speaker, wireless subwoofer, power cords for both the SoundBar and the subwoofer, a 6' optical cable, and a remote control for the system.

I purchased this to use as a computer speaker. The sound quality is good and was easy too install. The Polk Sound Bar 3000 comes with a optical cable and a stereo cable to adapt to most any installation. There is even a splitter cable, stereo to RCA mini splitter included. I used the optical cable since my mother board had a optical jack. Now I can watch movies and play music on the computer with real sound quality.

I enjoyed two, huge 4-foot-high Polk speakers, $450 each, for 30 years that had been knocked off 4-foot-high pedestals over and over, beaten up on by cats, etc., and still worked like they were new. Its why I chose Polk for the HD TV. As a retired studio musician, I have a good idea of what speakers should do. These old war horses produced studio level sound.
The SurroundBar doesnt do it for me. I expect something I paid that much for to be transparent, not just loud and tubby. Yeah, the subwoofer will knock your socks off they all do and theres a lot of sound coming out of the 30X4 inches of bar, but it sounds no better than a run of the mill, cheap stereo set- up. Forget the computer generated 3D sound mimicking a real surround sound setup. It aint there.
And the remote . . . ! Dont get me started on the minuscule remote that ought to be thrown under the nearest steam roller. It wont work unless you get to within six feet of the bar. I watch TV from 12 feet. For someone who is constantly adjusting the sound level, even though the TV is supposedly doing it for you, its a royal pain.
Bottom line is I expected more from Polk. It would be a good system if Id paid what a cheap system would cost for it.
