The endless playlist
The music collection on your iPod or MP3 player is about 10,000 songs strong. There's no argument — such a collection is pretty impressive. But these are all your favorites, your "Golden Oldies" (plus a few that you've completely forgotten about, of course). In other words, you still like discovering new music whenever you get the chance. And, as you are well aware, the best place to hear new tunes is the radio — but not just any radio . . . Internet radio services offer a nearly endless supply of new, up-and-coming music, as well as all your favorites. And most of it is free. The only thing that's stopping you, however, is being limited to hearing all that music only at your computer. You could update your iPod or MP3's playlists, but you don't want to listen to headphones at home. You want to listen to your favorites and discover new music, listening from anywhere in your home. You want the Squeezebox Radio from Logitech.
Wired, wireless, whatever
Giving you the ability to listen to the music you want — whether from your existing collection or from online sources — the Logitech Squeezebox Radio combines internet and line-level-audio connectivity. Use the built-in ethernet port or Wi-Fi capability in conjunction with your broadband internet connection or wireless network to stream the latest music from thousands of free internet radio stations as well as from online services, including Spotify, Pandora, Slacker, Rhapsody, and SIRIUS Internet Radio. While you can choose to use your computer while streaming audio, the Squeezebox Radio's Always On Internet Radio technology lets you access internet radio even when your PC is turned off. Further, allowing simple, universal access to audio files on your iPod or other MP3 player, the Squeezebox Radio sports a 3.5mm line-level audio input jack and cable for connecting to the headphone output on your portable audio player.
LCD screen, album art, Facebook . . . what can't this do?
These days, if any home electronics device is worth its weight in dirt, it's got to have an LCD screen. One-line digital readouts just don't cut it as interfaces for operation and setup anymore. And what possibility there is with the Squeezebox Radio's 2.4" color LCD screen! Not only does the LCD screen offer simple-to-navigate menus for browsing your music collection and internet radio stations, but it also lets you view album art, track and station information, visualizers, and screen savers. And that's not even the best part. If you have a Facebook account, you can display your page right on the screen, and make instant music recommendations to your friends as soon as you discover a new song or artist! The LCD display also offers a fast guide for setting up and using your SqueezeBox Radio.
Compact, yet room-filling
This goes for any loudspeaker: you want sound that fills your listening area, not a speaker that takes over a room. Bringing you a wide soundscape while allowing for placement anywhere, the compact Squeezebox Radio solves the conundrum. First, measuring only 5.12" H x 8.66" W x 5.04" D, the Squeezebox Radio's footprint is so compact, that it can be placed anywhere from the kitchen counter top to your desk at the office without crowding your workspace. Further, the combination of a 0.75" tweeter and 3.0" woofer delivers a full, vibrant sound powered by a built-in Class D amplifier.
Rise and shine
What better way to start your day than with your favorite radio station, DJ, or playlist? With its built-in alarm clock, you can program the Squeezebox Radio to wake you up with the tunes of your choice. You can even program a different radio station and time for every day of the week. Further, at night, you don't have to worry about being bothered by the light from the LCD display — a built-in ambient-light sensor recognizes light conditions and automatically adjust the panel brightness to fit the environment.
Included with purchase
The following items are included with the purchase of the Logitech Squeezebox Radio: Squeezebox Radio Wi-Fi music player, power adapter with removable plug, user documentation, and a line-in cord for most iPod and other MP3 players with a standard 3.5mm jack.

I am very happy with my Logitech Squeezebox Radio. The wireless was quick and easy to set up. I am a Sirius Subscriber and this was the main reason I purchased the Squeezebox but this thing does so much more. All the different internet radio sites. Rock, country, talk you name it its on here! I still love listening to my Sirius NFL and Howard Stern with the Sirius app but I uses this radio for so many other channels and apps! I highly recommend this for any person who loves the radio!

Received the radio in good shape. Went through the registration process and downloaded the software to my desktop. Went through a brief breakin period getting familar with the control buttons on the squeezebox front. The controls are easy once you start using them and the drill down station selection is a snap with the easy to use back feature. Large varity of free radio selections available. I especially like the world wide selections. Nice bright display and has excellent sound. I think the squeezebox is a much better selection than the HD radio that I had been using. I dont even need the remote ctrl and battery accessory package that you can order for $50.00.

Great sound, easy setup, even if there are problems the error messages and guidance are very good to get the radio working. Very good wireless connectivity even for a weak signal. I especially like the presets, six is okay, eight might be better. Only negative is the finish--its a fingerprint magnet, but it is easy to keep the dust off.

From my brief acquaintance so far, this appears to be a truly excellent product. The user interface is a shining example of how it should be done. The display is jewel-like in its crispness and richness of color. The sound is very good for a device this size. The radio finds the Wi-Fi connection quickly and does not drop it. It is heavier than I expected for a portable unit, but on the good side appears to be very solidly made. One gripe, echoing other buyers - the need to buy the remote control and battery pack as a $50 optional extra. However all in all Im very pleased with this purchase.

I found out about this nifty gadget from a salesperson at an electronics store that didnt carry it in stock...but he referred me to others that did. It seemed to fit my need exactly I wanted something that would allow me to play anyall music from my PC e.g. iTunes, etc on my stereo without running wires, etc., all digital. This device was more expensive than Id been anticipating paying for such functionality, but it also was more capable -- it purportedly would not just stream by iTunes content, but also any content from a plethora of Internet radio stations.....cool! As a user of Pandora on my PC and my iPhone, I decided this unit was worth the extra cost beyond an Apple Airport Express, etc, so I bought one. That was about a week ago. It was amazingly simple to get the unit set up and talking to my wireless network, to get the firmware updated which happened automatically, and to get the Squeezebox server set up on my PC. It downloaded all the info regarding my iTunes content, so suddenly I was looking at a huge library of content I could scroll through using the large knob, and select whatever album, artist or song was Desired to play. Then I ran into the problem. I received an email from Pandora which Id registered as an app on my Squeezebox device, notifying me that they had a Nat King Cole Christmas channel available. Hey, that sounded cool, so I decided to give it a whirl. Within seconds I had dialed up this channel and clicked to make it play. Nothing. I could see and scroll through all of the sub-menus, but when I tried to play any content I received an error message connection reset by local host. My local host must not be very nice, because a few days and support emails to Logitech later, I still dont have a fully operational device here...no ability to stream content from the Internet. I dont know if Logitech has a solution for this bug....if so, Ive not yet discovered it. What a pain! For that reason Im giving it a 2 on performance and overall rating. Bottom line if you want to use the Internet radio function, be cautious, and make sure the fix has been implemented before buying this device. -- Jim

I recently got the Logitech Squeezebox Radio for my wife for Christmas. Last year, I surprised her with satellite radio for her car and she fell in love with the uninterrupted music programming and the signal quality. She made comments often about how she wished she could have the cars radio in the house. She was familiar with streaming music and played music often over the desktop computer and asked if I could run some wires or something so she could enjoy that free programming all over the house. When she opened her gift a couple of days before Christmas, she literally danced up and down like a kid. Right out of the box, setting it up, downloading software, and installing apps went smoothly. The controls are placed logically and not difficult to master. We are impressed with the rich sound quality and volume range of such a small unit. We are enjoying learning all the bells and whistles e.g., the slideshow of stock pictures that are packed with the radio. Well done, Logitech.

Sometimes, it goes offline or might be a little buggy, but it quickly fixes when you turn the power off then on. Definitely the right product for the money!

I have been reading about Wifi internet based radios for years & looking for a value priced receiver to hook up to my Stereo.
In searching the internet I bumped into a family of units I hadnt seen before made by Logitech called SqueezeBox & found a refurbished single speaker portable unit at a good price.
I love it!
Set up is easy for anyone with basic knowledge of their existing computer system MAC Addresses & the like.
The radio interface is slick, a rotating scroll knob that you push to select, a back button if you choose poorily & a home button to get you back to the begining, do 90 of the work.
The little color display is easy to read & provides you with all the info you require.
Sound quality is good for such a small unit & when I used it through the ear phone jack as a receiver for my stereo I was impressed.
From my computer I logged on to the Logitech website & down loaded the SqueezeBox server software. The software categorized all my MP3 files allowing them to be viewed & played from the SqueezeBox Radio. Cool!
It was easy for me to navigate the world & tune into my favorite Saturday Night radio program from Portland, ME & Logitech staff have provided you with a directory with their favorite stations to help you enjoy now while your learning.
My only complaint so far, is the unit can be run off a rechargeable battery pack that didnt come with the radio & has to be purchased from Logitech. The unit should have been deigned for off the self NiH batteries.
I am a rocker from the 70s, I have always owned high end stereo equipment but in the last ten years I have fallen away from music
and been busy making TVs sound good.
I am glad that internet radio has put music back in my life & I look forward to exploring the world.
I hope Logitech reads my review, I think they have a well thought out little machine & I thank them for the quality of their engineering.
Its hard to believe I opened the packaging just two days ago. I cant wait to figure out what else the radio can do!

I began my search for an under-cabinet mp3 player a month ago and was surprised to find there were practically none on the market. I stumbled upon wi-fi radios by accident, started reading the specs for the Squeezebox ,and fell in love. It had everything I wanted- the ability to play my favorite online radio stations PLUS my huge mp3 collection.
Both my husband and I are IT professionals so I will say that set-up for us was a breeze. Integrating it into your secure wireless network can be complicated if you dont know what youre doing, but I was up and running in less than 10 minutes.
I am extremely pleased at the quality of the sound out of the TINY Squeezebox. It fits into the palm of your hand. And therefore- fitting it into our tiny kitchen was also a breeze. I love the sleek black design. Fingerprints are not an issue for me so Im not sure what the other complaints were about- Ive handled mine and didnt leave grease marks behind at all.
The dials are easy to use. I like the ability to add favorites both online and through the mysqueezebox website.
This is a fantastic device and the best purchase I have made in a long, long time!
