Take back your audio collection
Your music collection has been diversified. Sure, you have CD’s, some records, and even a few tapes still lying around, but most of your collection is stored on your home network, carried around on your iPod, and then streamed online so you can keep up with all your favorite artists. But if computer speakers and headphones is all you’ve been listening through, while your home audio equipment is only really pulled out to enjoy an old LP, listen to your CD collection, or provide sound for your movies, it’s time to reclaim it in the name of your full music collection. Marantz’s NA7004 networking audio player gives you the ability to not only access music on your computer through the ethernet LAN output on the back and DLNA compatibility, but also get streaming music from services like Pandora, Rhapsody and Napster, but also from a variety of internet radio stations.
Marantz quality audio
When you think of steaming audio, your audiophile ears may not exactly perk up — low signal rates, quality-destroying compression, and poorly built components have plagued audiophiles for years, giving most digital audio a bad rap. Marantz is looking to change that perception by only using the best quality components in building their networking play, each piece chosen specifically to enhance the quality of sound from the unit. A high quality Cirrus CS4398 stereo D/A converter handles 24-bit/192kHz digital signals with ease at an impressive dynamic range, while still providing incredible detail and depth with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Marantz proprietary HDAM SA2 circuits expertly handle buffering and stage-to-stage signal transition, while symmetrical signal traces keep the left and right channels perfectly synched. Meanwhile, shielded digital outputs and an impedance matching copper plate inside the rear panel near the analog outputs makes sure that noise is reduced, while lending itself to incredible imaging capabilities. Finally, Marantz’s dynamic audio expander (M-DAX) dynamically fills in for audio ranges lost in digital files during compression to give you more full sounding music. Truly, this is a piece to make digital music that everyone can appreciate.
Digital living with DLNA
Getting your music from your computer to your speakers can seem like a daunting task. Well, a daunting task if you don’t have the Digital Living Network Alliance on your side — and with the NA7004, you do. DLNA compatibility gives you an easy way to connect the Marantz network player to your home computer network, and set up folders for music files and play lists from your computer to be easily accessible through your NA7004.
Floating on the stream
Beyond just the music on your computer, the NA7004 gives you options to get music you may not own (yet), or discover new artists by streaming music from Pandora, Rhapsody, or Napster. With Rhapsody and Napster, these subscription based services allow you to browse a huge collection of music by song title, artist, or genre. Pandora’s free service allows you to explore music by entering an artist, song title, genre, or multiples of these and listen to music similar to it. You also have access to Internet radio through vTunes, allowing you to preset up to 56 Internet radio stations for easy access.
Potent portables
The Marantz NA7004 and your iPod were made for each other. Or, more specifically, the front USB port on the Marantz NA7004 is Made for iPod – meaning you can easily playback music already stored on your favorite mp3 player. But it’s not just able to play, it’s also able to charge, so that when you’re ready to take your collection on the go, you won’t have to worry about whether you’re low on battery life. Oh, and did we mention it’s also compatible with your iPhone?
That old time Rock n' Roll
Digital inputs are great, but, for some systems, you may not necessarily have newer connections to take advantage of. No worries, some audio systems are timeless, and the NA7004 has left and right composite audio outputs so that even if your system wasn’t made in the current millennium, you can still use it to get the most current sources without an issue.
Ethernet, optical, coaxial . . . oh my!
Of course, all these great capabilities don’t mean much if you don’t get the right connections, and a high quality system like yours demands only the best.
