I bought this as part of the Harman Kardon AVR1650 bundle here at Vanns. I have a basic home theater, with the above bundle playing friends with a Panasonic 50S30, PS3, Wii, and Directtv HD. The LRs are mounted on some cheapie stands. They sit at ear level when seated on my couch and are 6 from one another as recommended. The rear speakers are on either side behind me, at a height of 6 with 6 feet of separating the two again, recommended by Energy...no less than 6. The center channel speaker is dead center on my tv stand, aimed slightly upward toward the listener. The mighty little subwoofer is sitting in the corner, about 2 from the side wall and 1 from the main wall. Installation was a breeze, where I used bare 16 awg wire to the satellites and a sub cable for the subwoofer. All sources feed the AVR via hdmi, with the exception of the Wii, which uses a component connection and analog sound input. The speakers are only about 20 hours in on the recommended 50 hour break in. Take that FWIW.
The speakers perform way better than they deserve to. The LCR and surrounds are high passed at 120 hz with the mighty little 8 sub filling in the bottom end. The speakers were all set up with the AVR 1650s EzSetEQ. The satellites including the center channel have a very balanced sound, with the human voice coming across as very true. Midbass from the satellites have nice punch, a result of both a proper crossover point and a good speaker. The sub is placed in the corner of my apartment living room, a space thats about 12x25, with an opening at one end leading to the kitchen and a hallway located dead center. Ceilings are 8 high. Anyway, the bass from the sub is perfect for apartmentcondotownhouse living. It can get loud if you want it, low when it needs to, and, like the satellites, is very balanced in output. Its not bottom heavy and its not boomy up high where it could easily butt heads with the the satellites and their midrange reproduction. With the gain at the half way point, the AVR knocked output down 8 dBs, which was its only glaring error. I set it back to 0 and all is good, er, great. The sub wont rattle your walls, but you definitely feel and hear it.
Given that Im only 40 of the way through the breaking in period on all 6 speakers, Im excited to hear them after ~30 more hours of use.
Final Note Vanns was great to deal with. Everything arrived in one piece, in a timely manner, and with updates from Vanns up to the point of delivery...and then they email you to get your opinion on the whole process. Good folks there in Big Sky country.

Purchased this speaker set for a basement theater system. Paired them with a Panasonic receiver and Samsung Blu-Ray player. The speakers are awesome! They make watching TV and movies so much better. They also sound great when playing music. The subwoofer provides more than enough bass for its size. It fills our 40 x 40 basement with rich sound. I would definitely recommend this product, you cant beat the value. Vanns was very easy to work with, I will definitely be going back to them for future purchases.

got these at at great price at vanns in a bundle. chose these due to all the gushing reviews online. although the sound is good, cant say im blown away by them. replaced a vizio sound bar and 100w wireless sub, and was expecting a lot more. the energy 5.1s are good, but was just expecting more. the piano black finish is very nice, but they are a bit boxy looking.

Believe the rave reviews. This system sounds great. The bass is thunderous but can be easily adjusted to any setting with a turn of a knob and the highs are crystal clear. The center speaker does a great job carrying dialogue. Everything is solidly built and sounds tight. It handles music and movies with equal ease. I mounted the speakers on Sanus HTB3 stands and they match the clean speaker lines nicely. Other than needing a female-to-2-male adapter for the subwoofer cable, set up was a breeze. For the price, it cant be beat.

I called in and asked a customer service rep if they could reccomend a satellite speaker system to me. When he told me about the Energy Take Classic system, I didnt want to believe him because I had never heard of it. However, I took his word on it and ordered it anyway. The price was way to good to pass up. Especially, when you compare it to the other systems I was looking at. My wife really liked some system that she was showing me over at Sams Club. It was a bose sytem and it did sound great. But, I would put this sytem up against it in a heart beat. It really does sound so good. I have it set up in my theater room. Its about 15 x 15. I have had over a dozen people ask me what kind of speakers they are. Whenever I say Energy Take they say... Energy What? Anyway, if your looking for something that doesnt have huge front tower speakers and a huge center, I would highly reccomend you give this a shot. P.S. Vanns shipped it to me in one day.

I purchased this speaker set based on the amazing reviews. I had it hooked up to the Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver. I broke the system in per the instructions. I have to say these do sound amazing. The sound that comes from this little package was really incredible. The movie sound was excellent! Music was really good, and for this size system, very impressive as well.
However, this isnt a system that will fill a large room with sound. I ended up returning it for a set of Jamo speakers that I find equally as impressive at double the cost with the added sub. I would recommend this system for smaller to midsized rooms or if you do not require high volume listening. The small size is nice too if you want to hide them.

Never heard of Energy speakers before I researched home theatre speaker systems. I figured if they were half as good as the reviews, editors choice, and the professinals opinions, they would be a good fit for my system. By breaking them in as instructed, the range of sound becomes infinate! THE best speakers for quadruple the price! Sound quality is crisp, clear, and audible even when the volume is low!
When playing GTAIV, I can actually hear each person on the street. Instead of feeling like Im in the middle of a bunch of bumbling. mumbling idiots, I can hear actual person to person conversation along with the other city sounds! Blue rays, DVDs, games. music, and Directv HD all sound AWSOME!!!
Hooked them up to an ONKYO 706B receiver, PS3, Directv HD-DVR, and 46 1080p HDTV.
I am very satisfied and impressed with these speakers. Its hard these days to find a product that is better than advertized. With every passing day, Im sure Ive found it!
