Get ready!
Not so long ago, the best movie quality one could enjoy at home was 480i video with compressed, 5.1-channel audio. Then, with the advent of Blu-ray technology, you could enjoy Full HD 1920 x 1080p video with uncompressed 7.1-channel surround sound. With about six times the resolution, smoother picture, and better sound, Blu-ray took home video to a great new level. And now, another technology is coming along on the back of Blu-ray to make your movie experience even greater: 3D. The formula for great 3D content has been perfected, and now Hollywood is producing an abundance of content, from sportscasts to documentaries to blockbusters. But, here's the thing: to enjoy the benefits of 3D in your home, you'll need a few things. First, you'll need a TV that can handle 3D. Then, you'll need content, like 3D movies found on Blu-ray discs. You'll need the HDMI cables you use for your Full HD 3D content to conform to version 1.4. After that, you'll need special active-shutter glasses to turn what the 2D screen displays into a 3D scene. Finally, you'll need a way to play that content, like a 3D-capable Blu-ray player. The Samsund BD-C6900 is such a model. It can play the 3D Blu-ray discs starting to trickle onto the market. The number of 3D movies is only going to increase, so be sure you're ready with this 3D-ready Blu-ray player! Oh, and if you're craving more info on how 3D technology works, please check out our explanation under "Articles" at the bottom of the page.
Problem solved
Nearly all Blu-ray players on the market today offer internet connectivity. Access to the internet is great for features like BD-Live, or with models such as this, extra features like streaming content or the ability to view your Twitter stream. But there's an inherent problem with that plan: how do you connect to the internet? Most models offer only an ethernet port for connectivity, which is fine if you already have an internet connection in place for your machine. But if you don't, most models will make you run a cable from the source, buy an expensive adapter, or go without. However, the BD-C6900 has built-in wireless internet connectivity, so if you have a wireless home network you can start using all the great internet features it has within minutes of opening the box!
Crossing over
Traditionally, home electronics have all been specialized. Each device had one specific purpose it performed, and if you wanted more functionality, you needed more machines. Well, fortunately, those days are gone. Take, for example, the Samsung BD-C6900. This device is a capable Blu-ray player. It also plays DVDs and CDs. But on top of that, if you hook it up to the internet, it becomes so much more than just a disc player. Using Internet@TV, you can download widgets and apps to access content from top providers like BLOCKBUSTER, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Pandora, Netflix, Twitter, and more. You can shop online, share pictures, catch up with friends and access a whole slew of content with the press of a button. This is the sort of set-up that would take a half-dozen or so machines in the last century. Cross over to the new age with this web-enabled Blu-ray player from Samsung.
Go Live
Of course, Internet@TV isn't the only thing you'll want to use the BD-C6900's internet connection for. With BD-Live, you can download extra features to supplement your movie experience for most of your Blu-ray movies. These features could be anything from games to trivia to commentaries to much, much more! Plus, there are two USB slots for you to connect storage devices for web content. Your movie experience will be better than ever with BD-Live!
Share it all - with AllShare
This Samsung Blu-ray player comes equipped with AllShare. But what is AllShare and why should you care about it? Well, quite simply, AllShare allows you to share pictures, music, and videos across your home network with ease. AllShare works with any DLNA-certified devices, so, for example, you could play video from your camcorder and music from your computer. It will make getting your media in one place easier than ever.
Why so Blu?
There are several compelling reasons to make the switch from DVD to Blu-ray. For starters, a DVD shows video at a resolution of 480i. Blu-ray movies play at a Full HD 1080p resolution, offering about six times as much detail with greater color and clarity, especially during fast-motion sequences. But sound is also greatly improved when you switch from DVD to Blu-ray. While DVDs have only 5.1-channel compressed audio, Blu-ray discs offer you full 7.1-channel uncompressed audio for a more immersive theater experience. And with this model, you can even skip the receiver and run that 7.1-channel uncompressed audio right to your speakers with analog outputs. But then models like this have extra features like Internet@TV, AllShare, and BD-Live functionality to give you even more reasons to make the switch. Plus, it's under $200. Switch to Blu today.

This is a great Blu-Ray, I checked it out on my new Samsung UN55C8000 3D TV and my older Scepctre 60 hz LED. The picture was great on both, in fact I am considering buying a second one.
The remote has large buttons and is easy to understand. The picture is sharp and incredible!!! 240 hz makes a big difference and Samsung does it best of all. HD programs are amazing and the family really enjoys the 3D experience.
I love the way the Samsung Blu-Ray intergates with the LCD.
I would caution even though the tv is great, Samsung service is SLOW, VANS did what it could on my DOA but either way I waited 10 days to get my TV working. So Although the tv is now working and is great. I am hoping I have no futher problems that need warranty work. My heart cant take the stress.

This little unit is great looking and tiny! It works like a champ though. Pop in a Blu-ray 3D disc and choose 2d or 3d and away you go. The movie loads quite a bit faster than past experience with DVDs or Blu-ray. The HDMI control function between the Blu-ray and the TV seems to work fairly well. I may have to check some of the settings on these two devices to get it closer to perfect. I like the 3D, have watched one of the Shrek movies and The Last Air Bender in 3D. I thought the 3D effects were much better than Avatar in the movie theatre with the colored glasses.

I bought a Samsung 3D Plasma TV and the Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-Ray disk player came with the purchase. Set up of this player was straight forward and I was able to take advantage of the built in wireless connectivity to connect with my in-home wireless network. The Blu-ray picture is exceptional, as is the 3D clarity [when mated with a proper 3D TV]. I am able to rent movies directly on-line, and the built-in applications offer lots of entertainment opportunities. I have seen complaints about the button placement on top of the player making it difficult to use in constrained places. I only use the remote control, so I have never experienced that issue. I think the lines on the player are clean and symmetrical. I would not want the buttons on the front of the player – it would distract from the aesthetics. I am very pleased with the player.

This is a great Blu-Ray player. The setup was effortless. My favorite thing is the ability to watch movies and shows from my Netflix instant queue. The picture is absolutely fabulous. We have not made the step up to high def in our regular Directv viewing, but the picture we get with this Blu-Ray player -- even with standard definition DVDs -- is making us eager to make the switch. I would recommend this player to anybody looking for a Blu-Ray player. It has the 3-D capability, but Im not really interested in that.

The Samsung 3D Blu-ray disc player is about one-half the size and thinner than most older Blu-ray players. It has a nice contemporary look with touch controls, blue see-thru disc window and blue lite logo. Best of all, it loads discs very fast in less than one-third the time of older Blu-ray players. It is frequently bundled with Samsung 3D Tvs.
Up conversion of older DVD programs to 1080p works fine and Blu-ray discs look great on our new Samsung 3D plasma TV. Unit was manufactured in April 2010 and we havent updated firmware yet. This disc player has BD Wise and Anynet features that allows inter-connectivity with Samsung TVs that have these functions thru HDMI 1.4 cable. Convenient functions can be performed such as automatic turn on of TV, Automatic setting TV to 3D when 3D disc is loaded, muting of TV speakers, automatic setting of optimum TV resolution, etc.
We havent used player for Internet connection yet. It has built-in wireless LAN and also a wired connection. Audio outputs include HDMI 1.4 to a receiver with HDMI 1.4 pass-thru to TV, digital audio optical, 7.1 ch analog and 2 ch audio. Best audo with latest Dolbyand DTS capabilities output is via HDMI 1.4 but this requires a newer HDMI 1.4 receiver. There is no HDMI 1.3 output to those capable recivers. Basic Dolby and DTS digital output is via optical connection and 7.1 analog is provided for older 7.1 recievers.
For best picture quality and interactive functions, use of latest HDMI 1.4 cable to connect to newer HDMI 1.4 capable TVs is recommended. When first viewing a 3D movie, it is important to initially set Samsung TV 3D View Point to -1 since factory settings of 0 or plus 1 caused ghosting and double background images for Monsters vs Aliens movie. Access thru TV Menu- Picture- Enter- 3D- 3D View Point. Setting can be changed later to see what effect has on 3D picture. Likewise, when Samsung 3D TV is first being used to convert 2D disc movies or cable programs to 3D it is important to set TV Depth in range of 7 to 9 to get considerable 3D effect. Factory setting of 4 or 5 may not give full desired 3D effect. Access thru TV Menu- Picture- Enter- 3D- Depth. Later varying of Depth setting can be made to ones preferences.
