The new standard: Singular performance with DualView
With traditional digital cameras, you're stuck behind the lens, snapping shots of what everyone else is doing, but leaving yourself out of the excitement. And then, we all know what happens when one tries to take a self portrait — you end up with poorly composed shots that are out of focus and crooked. It's time for you, the photographer, to step into the limelight. It's time for the TL225 from Samsung, featuring DualView technology. While other digital cameras only offer a single, rear LCD viewscreen, the TL225 serves up a second LCD located on the front of the camera. Now you can point the lens to face you and snap perfectly composed shots with a clear view of the 1.5" LCD screen. And when it comes to actually snapping the shot, you can either press the shutter button yourself, or set the countdown timer and watch the numbers wind down on the front-panel LCD. There's even a Children Mode that plays short animations on the front LCD to keep the little ones' attention for the perfect shot!
No ordinary LCD . . .
Now, let's not allow the TL225's innovative front LCD viewscreen to hog the stage. Remember, we're talking about DualView technology: the 1.5" front LCD is only half of the equation. Not only does the TL225's rear 3.5" color LCD viewscreen offer a wide, detailed view with its 1,152,000 pixel resolution, but it also delivers touchscreen interactivity! With a simple flick of the finger, you can program camera settings, browse photo albums, and change between landscape and portrait views.
Double image stabilization
Whether it's the excitement of the shot or a chill on the air that's causing you to shake, unsteady hands can do a lot to ruin an otherwise ideal shot. Sporting Dual Image Stabilization, the TL225 digital camera from Samsung serves up a one-two punch to tame blurry photos. First off, Optical Image Stabilization compensates for trembling hands by literally shifting the camera's lens in the opposite direction. Second, Digital Image Stabilization's advance processing kicks in when things get really wobbly to ensure blur-free images.
And a little HD
On the rare occasion that you might tire of shooting still shots with the TL225, Samsung has outfitted this digital camera with a high definition movie capture mode. Now you can record up to 20 minutes of your friends' hilarious antics in stunning 1280 x 720p high definition. Then, once you're back at home, you can share your latest footage with friends and family on your HDTV using the TL225's built-in HDMI interface.
The Perfect Portrait system
One of the best things about having a compact point-and-shoot camera is the ability to take pictures of friends and family when you're all having fun. Thanks to the Samsung TL225's Perfect Portrait system, you can take fantastic shots of the human face with confidence. Samsung's Perfect Portrait system combines Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection, and Red-eye Fix technologies to ensure optimal exposure of faces. Face Detection detects up to nine different faces, automatically adjusting focus and brightness for stunning results. Another Perfect Portrait technology, Beauty Shot even retouches imperfections on your subject's face, automatically! Perfect Portrait settings also allow you to take great self portraits.
Nuts 'n' bolts
Chances are you aren't planning on looking at all of your digital photos on the camera's LCD screen. No way! At some point you're going to want to print them off to share with and send to friends and family. This is where your camera's pixel-capture resolution comes into play. Lower resolutions are fine for printing off standard 3"x5" photos, but if you want to reproduce large prints 8"x10" or larger, you're going to need a larger resolution. Enter the TL225 with a whopping 12.2-megapixel capture resolution, offering ample pixels for creating large prints without sacrificing any detail. Further enhancing your photographic toolbox, the TL225 features a wide-angle Schneider-KREUZNACH lens with a powerful 4.6x optical zoom.
Shooting in the moment
Even the most seasoned photographers don't always have time to program ideal camera settings for every shot. Photographic moments aren't planned . . . they're spontaneous. Making sure that you're always ready to take the perfect shot, Samsung's TL225 offers Smart Auto technology. Using one of fourteen unique preset modes, Smart Auto technology automatically senses shooting conditions and optimizes camera settings for the ideal shot. Choose between modes such as Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, and Blue Sky Mode. And, of course, should you ever want to take control of your photographic experience, Smart Auto's parameters can be bypassed for manual operation.

After playing with many cameras in stores, I decided that the Samsung TL225 was the camera for me. I have a Panasonic SLR that I love, but going on vacation I dont like having to either carry a camera bag, or a large camera around my shoulder. I wanted a point and shoot that could fit in my pocket, but still give me quality pictures. The Samsung sold me on the LARGE touchscreen 3.5 in. It is visible during the day in the sun, and very clear and precise in its responsiveness. it also has a small screen on the front 1.5in so you can take self pics which we all do. I travel alone often and this feature is very nice. Added to both screens is the face recognition and smile recognition so you dont even have to push the shutter button, just smile! That gives it a lot of cool factor points. All in all, i would recommend this camera. it seems like it is built solidly, performance is good, and its packed with features.

Ive been looking to purchase a sleek digital camera that also took high-quality pictures and video for awhile now, and the TL225 caught my eye.
The main feature, for some, would obviously be the dual screens, with the front screen being the main attraction. Simply tap the camera and it lights up, giving you a clear view of yourself and your friends when taking self portraits.
The 4.6x optical zoom provides great quality pictures without the distortion that digital zoom would provide, though if you go anywhere past the 4.6x range, it will switch over to the digital zoom.
As for the back of the camera, youve got a rather nice capacitive touch screen with haptic feedback, which can also be turned off. The screen is very responsive and provides a rather large view of what youre snapping photos of.
The 720p video recording is an added bonus for a point and shoot, and the overall picture quality for both images and video is incredibly nice for such a small camera.
Pros
Touch Screen - While some prefer having hard control over their menus, everything is easily explained and the touchscreen provides easy access to the most used parts of the camera, as well as to the settings menus.
Gesture controls - Want to hop from Smart Auto to Video recording in a snap? Simply press and hold an always-ready button on the touchscreen and tilt the camera forward and youre ready to go. I really love this feature as it provides incredibly quick switches from video to snapping pictures in an instant.
Picture quality - Obviously, this isnt a DSLR, but the up to 12.2 MP shots are fantastic quality and bring some life into the point and shoot price range.
Video Quality - This camera also isnt a dedicated HD camcorder either, but it gets the job done in a nice little package. The sound is pretty good, though, again, it wont top that of any dedicated camcorder or microphone setup.
Front screen - While I dont have loads of uses for it, the front screen provides a rather interesting take on self portraits. Instead of taking 4 or 5 pictures to get it right, youll be able to take just one and have it look the best. It also provides a countdown clock and a clown for taking photos of children.
FaceSmile detection - Ive been in the dark with digital cameras for awhile now, and this is a widely used feature across the board, but the face and smile detection works wonders on this device. When taking group photos, for example, blink detection while pause the shot until all eyes are open and everyone is smiling. Its a simple, yet oddly worthy feature.
Cons
- Slowdown - When taking pictures or video, the camera seems to slow down at random times. This is primarily just the viewfinder on the touchscreen and not the device itself, but it does make it feel a big sluggish at times. Not very noticeable, but it might irk some.
- Battery Life - While the camera is capable of just about everything you want it to do in a point and shoot, the battery life suffers. I highly suggest buying another replacement battery and a wall charger for just the battery in order to prevent losing pictures to lack of battery life.
- MicroSD card storage - According to Samsung, the decision to use MicroSD cards for storage instead of the traditional SD card was simply to save space and make the camera as small as possible. The maximum storage space you can have in this camera is up to 8GB. This is a ton of space, though I would have preferred being able to go up to at least 32GB for maximum storage.
- Short charging cable - While this isnt a huge con, if you plan on charging your camera in a wall socket with the included USB adapter, you better have an outlet near the top of a shelf because this cable is short. It leaves no room for extra cable at about 18 in length which does seem like a lot, but it just barely reaches the shelves in the my when charging.
Roundup
If youre looking for a point and shoot camera with all the newest features, a rather cool 2nd screen, 720p video recording, and a fantastic touchscreen, this is a great deal.
I would highly suggest looking at other options, though, as there are other better point and shoots available for cheaper than the current price. While this may pack a ton of great features in a small, sleek design, a little bit bulkier camera may result in better picture quality.
When looking for a digital camera, look around and find out what fits you best. Try out cameras in retail stores as well.

I have gotten a lot of compliments on this camera, both for its function and looks. The touch screen is very receptive to touch, and the pictures come out very well. The only thing is that the menu options arent laid out and easy to navigate. I am still learning how to get from one screen to the next. Other than that, it is a great camera with great features and looks.

Bought this camera in anticipation of a vacation. I loved it! Its the perfect size to fit in a pocket or small purse or wherever. The screen is nice and big, and I liked that it was a touch screen. The best part of this camera was the screen on the front, which made it easy to take pictures of myself when there was no one around to help. I definitely recommend this camera. Im not giving this camera a full 5 stars simply because Ive only had it for about a week and a half, so I havent really explored all of its features yet.

I purchased the TL225 camera a month ago. Dual view is a great addition to an already feature filled camera. I purchased a Nikon six months ago. Similar in mega pixel and zoom, however, Samsung is much better in terms of its touch screen. Very quick response. Features to help w image quality, removing red eye, are great. Other features like giving your image a classic look, snow fall, and additional image enhancements are a rare find. Amazing product. Will buy again and recommend to friend and family.

Samsung has done what nobody else is doing, that is a dual view camera with a touch screen display. Love the features of this bad-boy but a little disappointed on the picture quality. Its sharp imagine and vague at the same time but for the price I paid, I cannot be complaining. I bought a three yr warranty from square trade and now virtually own this camera risk free.

Usb Snycs w PS3 perfectly and PC, no continous flash if shooting video at night but other than that im happy, Besides im paying for a camera not a camcorder. The touch screen is very easy to use. I purchased the Samsung TL225 Digital Camera in December 2009. The camera came with a charger in the box with the camera which by February 2010 had stopped working. Vanns would not help me and instead referred me to Samsung, who refused to stand behind the functionality of their product and referred me to an outside vendor to purchase a replacement charger. This is unacceptable to not stand behind a product which is barely two months old. I WILL NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE A SAMSUNG PRODUCT. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.
